Man Utd manager Sir Alex Ferguson is known to be targeting a top-class striker
over the summer, especially with doubts surrounding the future of injury-prone
striker Louis Saha, whose sale would pave the way for Berbatov's arrival.
United are reported to be have been sounding out clubs who might be interested
in signing Saha. Despite showing signs of his best form in last season's title
-winning season, the Frenchman has scored just four goals so far this term as his
old injury jinx has struck.
Ferguson is a self-confessed fan of Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov and,
despite previously failing in attempts to bring the 27-year-old to Manchester, this
is one story that refuses to go away.
Berbatov has stressed his desire to stay at Spurs, admitting speculation about an
impending transfer has had an unsettling effect.
Berbatov's agents have been coy regarding the United links and when asked if a
move to the reigning Premier League champions might still go through at the end
of the season, the Bulgarian said: "Who knows what the future will bring.
