Any preferences on who wins?
There are some mouth watering ties thats for sure.
Do we want Arsenal to go through or get knocked out?
If they go out then they can put all their efforts into the Prem.
I hope Pool get destroyed, which goes without saying :D
and Im torn between Celtic and Barca who are my 2 'other' teams.
Hopefully we see some great games regardless.

TBH, I'd love another shot at AC Milan. They've knocked us out now twice in recent years and we should have been able to beat them last year. It would be a terrific final should both teams make it that far. Wouldn't want Roma, or Inter Milan. They'd be two tough games. If we were going to wi it, I'd rather say we beat AC Milan, then FC Porto, and the same for going out....

If you want to be the best, you have to prove that you are the best against the very very top teams in the competition

Exactly what I thought! :p

We deserve, another go. The likes of Rooney, Ronaldo, Rio, Scholsey......have been on the loosing team twice. They completly deserved to beat us first time round......last year, I still believe that we could have beaten them. Rooney had a chance early on, and on another day, it could have gone in. They'd fear us, IMO. If we were to play them next week, I'd definatly believe that we would/should have the quality to roll them over this time!

I would love to see a united real madrid or barcelona final, just because real madrid along with united are probably the two biggest teams in the world. Barcelona are probably the classiest team and the team which won the la liga and champions league in one season played some of the best football you will see. Also it would be great to see the likes of ronaldo, messi, ronaldhinio, eto, rooney, and co all on the same pitch. The same with a real madrid final, robinho, raul and nistelrooy and co and uniteds big hitters would be amazing. AC milan would be a a great game aswell but a few years back when we played them our players looked out of their depth and last season in the second leg we got outplayed. But forget the final, anything is possible once the knockout stages arrive so lets focus completely about lyon at the moment!

I would like to see inter, madrid olympiakos, milan, barca sevilla to go through and the schlake game i dont really mind. porto united would be an interesting game though. Quaresma on one wing, ronaldo on the other both play for portugal and quaresma outshone ronaldo in the game against italy recently, would be interesting for sure!

I was about to ask a really stupid question in who the other team playin is because u mentioned 7 matches and then i realised its the united game! Kind of hilarious in my world!

Chelsea bored the pants off everyone with a scoreless draw.

The Scousers got lucky 2-0. Materazzi was sent off early for what seemed to be nothing. The ref was clearly paid off.....

Madrid lost 2-1 after going a goa ahead.

Schalke beat Porto 1-0. Not a great night of footit but hopefully tomorrow will be a lot better.

How do the Scousers do it? They are a terrible team yet seem to pull it out of the bag in Europe.....

unbelievable !!! this liverpool match should be used on coaching academies to set an example how a match SHOULDN'T be run !!!! Is that Mancini a ****in retard or what ?! Throughout the whole match I was saying that Liverpool has no left side and that Inter's left side can't be run by Stankovic ! He was constantly late ! And then what happens ?! He fails to block Pennant for the first goal and then does the same to Gerrard for the second. Second - Why wasn't Suazo involved ?! I mean - Zlatan was crap, slow and lonely... While Suazo would have added something different - pace and speed for a change. And Vieira ?! Do I really need to mention him ?! He was like an old granny !

to be for to zlatan he couldnt do nothing because inter were content with defending all night and to be fair they were hugely unlucky to have been down to ten men....what was the ref playin at?!!? But the match can also be used as an example of how to defend and why playing in italy is so difficult. Say what you want about liverpools performance but for all the ball they had and attacks it seemed nothin was coming off until that little bit of luck with kuyt and gerrard should never have scored that goal. Annoying to see liverpool do it again, i hope they loose badly in milan,haha...but its going to be tough for inter now!!

As for the madrid game, roma should feel very happy with that performance because they didnt play as good as madrid who played quite good actually. They were also missin some players and there best player in robinho would is clearly missed when his not playing. Still madrid SHOULD win at home but with madrid noone can ever predict. One thing they never fail to do is entertain.

The schalke game was interesting, i dont think porto will be too disheartened at loosin 1-0 going back to portugal because they can still do it in front of there own fans. However whether they are clinical enough we will see.

Chelsea make me laugh. They have spent sooo much and whatever team they put out its like a team of superstars yet they cannot play abit of football to save there lives. Seriously some of the stuff they play is soooo boring but they keep winning i guess, thats all that matters for them. I do feel sorry for a player like ballack however, he seems like a player who likes to pass and move and is totally in the wrong team at chelsea. They're still in all competitions though so like one can not be too critical of them i guess...still hope the greeks put them out, lol.

Cannot wait for the games now though! I hate watching CL matches knowing its not united i'm watching!

At least i got the Schalke vs Porto score kinda right. Even though Real Madrid are down 2-1, I'd expect them to turn this around at home.

I just read read the Lyon Chiefs actually believe the Man Utd defense will crumble if you exert the right kind of "pressure" on them. LOL. How very amusing.

Against Milan, we never had our full strenght back 4. And when Vida did come back, he wasn't even match fit. In anycase, I don't expect Rio & vida to crumble. We'll do just fine today. I'm certain of it.

lol - dida's new injury is a true representative of today's Milan - he injured his back while sitting on the bench ! I mean these guys are so old that they're starting to get "old people's" injury.. What's next - Maldini breaking his hip ?! Lol... seriously - I think they're in for some rough pounding ... It doesn't have to be Milan - someone will knock them hard.. oh and - do you know what Dida means on my language - it's a grandpa - so grandpa injured his back while sitting on the chair - lol classic

Carlos Tevez has almost doubled Manchester United's chances of making it into the Champions League last eight with his late equalising goal against Lyon on Wednesday night.

That is the analysis of detailed stats of all European two-leg knockout games down the years.

Teams returning from an away first leg with a 1-1 draw have ended up winning the tie in 77 per cent of cases. In contrast, only 43 per cent of teams losing 1-0 away in the first leg have managed to turn the tie around - so Tevez's goal really could make the difference. Elsewhere, Liverpool have a 79 per cent chance of progressing against Inter Milan after a 2-0 win at Anfield, while Chelsea will fancy their chances against Olympiacos with 68 per cent of teams going through after a 0-0 draw away in the first leg.

But that same stat makes grim reading for Arsenal who were held to a goalless draw at home to AC Milan.

With fingers crossed....

The Italian Challenge

Inter Milan - Although they are the most dominant side & are currently unbeaten in Italian Serie A this season, they hve a terrible past record in Uefa Champions League. Moreover, they hve to overcome a 2-goals deficit against Liverpool without 2 of their defensive lynchpins, Ivan Cordoba & Marco Materazzi. Mind you, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is one of the best players in the world. But, just like Cristiano Ronaldo, they are & will never be a big-game player. Mind you, they won't even get to the quarter-finals.

AS Roma - The Giallorossi lead 2-1 from their last 16 first leg at the Stadio Olimpico. However, I noticed that they didn't dominate in both the match proceedings & ball possession. 2-1 is a very risky scoreline, also to concede an away goal for the opposition team. Don't forget what happened last season when they arrive @ OT smacking their lips & went back home with heads hung low. They will get knocked out by a certain Real Madrid side who has a 100% home record in Europe this season.

AC Milan - The Rossoneri have an enviable record in the Uefa Champions League in recent years, having reached three finals (winning two), a semi-final and a quarter-final in the last five seasons. Possessing a vastly-experienced squad, Carlo Ancelotti's men are the 'been-there-done-that' side. One of the favourites in this tournament, they will reach the semi-finals at they very least. Don't forget with Gennaro Gattuso, Andrea Pirlo, Clarence Seedorf & Ricardo Kaka, they hve the best midfield in the whole of Europe.

The Spanish Challenge

Real Madrid - This point is key. They have won all their Spanish Primera La Liga and Uefa Champions League games at home this season, stumbling only in "lesser" cup tournaments this season. After all, Madrid have rested some of the key players of it's squad for this one over the past couple of weeks. Their strikeforce comprises of Raul & RVN who scored a combined 117 goals in this elite European competition. If they can leave Rome with a vital away goal, goal, they're in fine stead to advance. Roma will know this, and thus Iker Casillas will be under bombardment from the word go on Tuesday.

FC Sevilla - In just a few short seasons, FC Sevilla have styled themselves no longer as also-rans but as seasoned European campaigners, and with several intmidating arenas already left humbled by the Andalucians, coach Manolo Jimenez knows that his side need not fear anyone. Indeed, by topping a group containing Arsenal, Sevilla have already shown that they have what it takes to dine at Europe's top table, and not merely enjoy the fruits of the UEFA Cup. The Rojiblancos have recovered of late to claw into the UEFA Cup zone after the tragic death of Antonio Puerta and eventual departure of coach Juande Ramos throwing things off-kilter.

FC Barcelona - No doubt, in the triumvirate of Lionel Messi, Samuel Eto'o, Ronaldinho Gaucho & Thierry Henry, Barca possessed the best strikeforce with most firepower in the world currently. The problem is, could all of them play and perform to their best together? Or they all just individual talents who perform well on separate occasions? The victory against Glasgow Celtic isn't able to answer that question. Unlike Madrid, Barcelona come into their CL game on the back of a win. Whether this serves to exhaust them, or spur them on to more success, remains to be seen.

The English Challenge

Liverpool - The last-16 European tie with Inter Milan is now do-or-die for Rafa's Reds. But the Spaniard remains in typically defiant mood. In Inter he faces a side at the top of their game. Admitting that Liverpool are not good enough to win the Premier League, Jamie Carragher claimed that the games against Inter are the sort that tend to bring out the best in players. Considering what the veteran centre-back has said, it's rather true as a 2-0 victory at Anfield serves as concrete evidence.

Arsenal - Europe's premier club competition has consistently proved to be beyond Wenger and his Arsenal side, and that may again be the case with the holders now blocking their path to the quarter-finals. Wenger knows that a club with Milan's pedigree can never be under-estimated. They have been champions of Europe seven times, something only Real Madrid can better.
The majority of the players at Arsenal are extremely fast & technically gifted. What they are lacking is most probably the vital experience to last them till the final against even more quality sides.

Manchester United - Our form in the group stages was outstanding as we won our pool at a canter, racking up five straight victories against Sporting Lisbon, Dynamo Kiev and AS Roma. We then had to settle for a solitary point against Roma in December when qualification as group winners was already 100% guaranteed. United's trump card could be their impressive strength in depth, but as Ferguson said, getting something out of the away leg could prove crucial. Clinching a vital away goal in Lyon & holding out for a draw, The Red Devils will most probably give the French champions a sound beating @ OT.

Chelsea - It could be argued that of all four English representatives in the Champions League, Chelsea's credentials are the strongest. True, they dropped Premier League points when being held to a draw by Liverpool just over a week ago, but they are proving exceptionally difficult to beat on all fronts - and while they may be a little too far behind in the Premier League to win that competition, they are well-placed to get beyond the semi-final stage in the Champions League for the first time.

Tbh, my dream draw would be that against FC Barcelona in the next round. I really wants to see 2 of the top 3 most entertaining teams(Le'Arse) clash together. Both sides play possessed explosive firepower in their ranks & love threading high-tempo passes to each of their team mates. I also wanna note how how who fare against who:

Lionel Messi vs Cristiano Ronaldo
Samuel Eto'o vs Wayne Rooney
Ronaldinho vs Carlos Tevez
Rio Ferdinand vs Carles Puyol
Patrice Evra vs Eric Abidal
Luis Nani vs Andres Iniesta
Xavi Hernandez vs Anderson

;)
