Defender Jonny Evans has been in excellent form on Wearside since joining on loan last month. He has enjoyed three clean sheets from the five Premier League games he has played so far.
The Manchester United centre back is highly rated at Old Trafford and Sunderland legend Charlie Hurley believes Roy Keane should splash the cash to seal a permanent deal for the Belfast born lad.
He reckons Sir Alex ferguson might be persuaded into letting the player leave, should they win a trophy this season.
"Jonny is a terrific player and he would be worth breaking the bank for if there is any chance of signing him full-time.
"He's done extremely well as a loan signing and he would be even better as a permanent buy – you can bet that Roy Keane would love to sign him in the summer.
"And if Manchester United win a trophy this season – either the Premiership or the Champions League – I think there is a chance Sir Alex might let Jonny go."
Jonny is unlikely to break into the first team at United anytime soon with the pairing of nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand boasting the best defensive record in the league so a move may be a step in the right direction for Jonny in his pursuit of first team football.
