For the last eleven rounds of the FA Cup, Manchester United have faced
Premiership opposition, so it came as no surprise today when we were drawn
against Portsmouth in the last-eight.
The odds of such a run of coincidences must be enormous, but Chelsea have the
same thing only they aways seem to draw lower league opponents.
Giant killers Barnsley will host Chelsea at Oakwell and will be hopeful of another
shock victory in front of their own fans.
One bonus for United is that the cup clash will be at Old Trafford so Sir Alex
ferguson will likely be confident of victory over the Hampshire club.
Ronaldo will be hoping his good luck continues against portsmouth, having netted
two superb free kicks against Pompey in as many seasons.
The further United go in the competition, the more likely it is that the next round
will give us an easier draw, but somehow we always get stuck with the tough
draw.
It would make a joke of the competition if we were beaten by Chelsea in the final
after they have had such an easy run to Wembley, but with the form United are
in at the moment I'd back them to beat anybody.
Sir Alex is confident of winning and says it's inevitable that we would draw a
Premiership team.
"It's a home draw, so it doesn't matter who you get. But it's typical that we have
another Premier League team.
"The good thing about the FA Cup, though, is that the opposition bring an
increased number of supporters, which makes for a great atmosphere.
"We've had two great home ties against Spurs and Arsenal in the previous
rounds, and hopefully we'll have another one against Portsmouth."
