Hi Taylor, welcome to the forum. I have quite a few friends in Sydney and some relatives too :)
The A league gets hardly any coverage over here to be honest, no offence but it isn't anywhere near the standard of European football so there's no demand for it.

Yeah it's definitely nowhere near the standard of European Football, but the standard is getting better every year.
Well the grand final is tomorrow. :D Central Coast Mariners V Newcastle Jets.
The A-League is very different to the European competitions.
The competition is comprised of 8 teams. (10 next year as the FFA recently announced 2 more teams will be included)
There is 21 round games and a finals series. In the finals series, there are 2 legs in each semi final with 1 v 2 (Major Semi), 3 v 4 (Minor Semi). The winner of the Major Semi progresses to the Grand Final while the loser plays in the Preliminary Final against the winer of the Minor Semi. The winner of the Preliminary Final progresses to the Grand Final.
The team who comes 1st in the normal season are the Premiers, and the winners of the Grand Final are the Champions.
2005/06: Premiers: Adelaide United, Champions: Sydney FC
2006/07: Premiers: Melbourne Victory, Champions: Melbourne Victory
2007/08: Premiers: Central Coast Mariners, Champions: TBD
Hope that helps :)

Vukovic facing possible life ban
February 24, 2008
CENTRAL Coast goalkeeper Danny Vukovic could face a ban of between one year and life after striking the referee in the A-League grand final.
The Australia under-23 shot-stopper was sent off for violent conduct in the dying seconds of the Mariners 1-0 loss to bitter rivals Newcastle Jets at the Sydney Football Stadium after lashing out at referee Mark Shield for not awarding a late penalty.
The incident is set to come under review by Football Federation Australia's match review committee on Monday, with Vukovic certain to face a disciplinary hearing this week in what will be a dramatic aftermath to a controversial clash.
He faces a lengthy ban - and could yet be rubbed out for all of next season.
Under the FFA's national disciplinary regulations, such a charge of violent conduct, striking an official, carries a recommended sanction of a one-year ban to life suspension.
Mariners coach Lawrie McKinna admitted emotion got the better of his 22-year-old 'keeper.
"I think it's just passion and hunger and when you see something and it doesn't get dealt with, I think it's just that," McKinna said.
"We want passionate players and hungry players and it's just disappointing. Sometimes emotions get the better of you and tonight it did with Danny."

Well the referees are absolute rubbish.
We had a corner in about the 94th minute and the keeper Danny Vukovic came up from his goals for it. A Newcastle player handballed off the corner and all the Mariners players saw it and ran to the ref shouting and appealing for the penalty that should have been. Danny hit the ref on the hand and is now facing a ban or suspension.
Here is the footage:

It's a ridiculous situation. A couple of months ago Joel Griffiths, Newcastle Jets striker and player of the season, struck an Assistant Referee in the genitals lol and only got a yellow card on the field. He didn't get a ban or anything because he was dealt with on the field.

Danny just got a 15 month suspension. 9 month ban from A-League football. If he re-offends he has to serve extra 6 months.
