In October 2004 Arsenal were hoping to extend their unbeaten run to 50 games.
van Nistelrooy and Rooney each scored to give Manchester United a valuable win
that ended Arsenal's unbeaten League run on 49 games.
Its always good to get one over the Gooners,
and this time in particular was very pleasing.

When we beat them that time it seemed to unsettle them
over the next few games. They were visibly rattled by the
'United Effect'.

Move forward over 3 years.......
United hammer Arsenal in the FA Cup and like the last time it has seemed to unbalance them.
Even during that game their players began to lose their head.

Since then they have drawn against AC Milan at home,
a game which they should have won but seemed to lack something.
They have suffered injuries to Toure and a horrific long term injury to Eduardo.
Then they dropped points at Birmingham where they were expected to win.

Then came the antics of their captain Gallas. He walked to the other
side of the pitch when he should have been defending the possible
rebound off the penalty,
he then smashed the hoardings on the side of the pitch
and then he staged what looked like a bizarre sit down protest
at the end of the game,
only to move when he saw Wenger coming on to get him.

It seems as though the wheels are coming off at Arsenal and this
can somewhat be attributed to the 'Man United effect'.
It may take them a while to get over the psychological blow
inflicted on them by the Red Devils. Lets hope so anyway.
