Darren Fletcher has admitted his first-team opportunities will be limited as Manchester United continue to shine in the Premiership.

With Cristiano Ronaldo, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Michael Carrick firmly established as Sir Alex Ferguson's favoured quartet, Fletcher knows the chance of a prolonged run in the team may be hard to come by.

However, Ferguson has already made it quite plain that if United are to hold on to their current five-point lead over Chelsea, all his squad will be required, a philosophy the Edinburgh-born player is happy to endorse.

"If we are to win the title, it will be the squad that does it, not just 11 players," he said.

"There will be injuries and suspensions and times when we will have to play three games in a week, the manager will have to freshen things up.

"Obviously, you are going to be slightly disappointed when you are not playing, any professional would be, but you have to use it to spur you on."

I dont think Darren Flecther is first team quality at the moment, im not sure if ever will be to be honest, i can see him just being a squad player and nothing more.

well he's a quality player but i think u have to see his qualities. He truely is nothing special but he's a descent young player. He likes to keep things simple and that is important. Better give a short pass and keep posession then lose it with an impossible pass. I likes the way he plays, concuer the ball and keep it. Ofcourse he's no first squad member at the moment but he's one ofmy favourites to replace scholes.

I cant seem him replacing scholes, i think we will go and buy a replacment for him when the time comes

Why not? They have to teach him how to score a goal and once he manage to do that he's a good replacement imo.

He has his moments - he scored the winner against Chelski last season and he had a fantastic game this year against Liverpool. I forget - has he scored already this season? Like O'Shea, I can't see him being relegated to the Reserves as of now - that is in part because of our lack of depth. I will say this - he's learning and he's upping his game which I don't see Brown or O'Shea doing.

dont get me started about Brown, he should've been sold years ago!
I agree with sparx, Fletcher is still improving and has played some excellent games. O'Shea on the other hand isn't even slightly getting better!
Fletcher will become a first-squad member in a few years. As long as we play a creative player besides him it'll work.

I used to rate Brown but he seems to of lost his way a bit and makes too many mistakes.

Flecther did get an important winner against Middlesbrough recently, lets see how he progesses

Ryan Giggs, David Beckham, Gary Neville, Phil Neville and Paul Scholes

Hmmm... I'll warrant that no one had even heard of these chaps before 1994 except those in the know. I think a number of them are names that every true United fan would know now, eh?

There were calls for Sir Alex's head then for having the audacity for selling key players.
