A brilliant week for manchester United has seen ten goals scored,
only eighteen players used and The Treble still on.
Arsenal on the other hand have suffered through a horrible week,
losing a key player to a sickening injury, scoring only two goals
and being comprehensively outplayed and embarrassed at Old
Trafford.
United are beginning to make a habit of destroying the
Newcastle defence and they did so again on Saturday, romping
to a 5-1 win and closing the gap on league leaders Arsenal.
We now have a home draw against Portsmouth in the FA Cup,
we are in a good position to qualify for the quarter finals of The
Champions League. Arsenal ae out of the FA Cup need to win
at the San Siro against holders AC Milan and dropped two
points away to struggling Birmingham. This is the kind of week
where a team needs to bounce back or surrender in it's fight
for the title.
Assistant manager Carlos Queiroz says the season is far
from over and the league positions of the top two may change
several times before the season ends.
"It was a special taste today because when you win you can
also taste the agony of the others."
"We feel better this week than the previous week and we hope
to be in a better position next week."
"It is always a special day when you win and your direct
opponent is not able to collect full points. Arsenal would have
been saying that after we played against City and lost."
"We can say this week is our week. Two weeks ago Arsenal
could say it was their week. It will be like this to the end of
the season. Everything is open. The league is so difficult.
We saw Birmingham drawing against Arsenal and that
shows fantastic effort. The attitude of all teams is great."
"The league over the last three or four years is growing in
terms of difficulty. It is more diicult to find one team who
can say three or four months before the end of the season
that we are going to win this. It is impossible to do that."
"Every team has improved their players and are better
organized. Nothing is guaranteed. To be at this stage of the
season and not be able to say who is going to be champions
is good for the game. For us, we are so close to the end there
is no room to make any mistakes."
