United 'attempted to sign' Gattuso

Manchester United have made several failed attempts to sign Gennaro Gattuso from Milan, according to the midfielder's agent.

The Italy international has regularly been linked with a move to Old Trafford over the last couple of seasons, and was again reported to be a target in the summer before Sir Alex Ferguson opted to sign Michael Carrick.

And Gattuso's advisor Claudio Pasqualin has now revealed that United have tried to bring him in on more than one occasion.

With the transfer window reopening Ferguson is determined to strengthen his squad for the end of the season, but Pasqualin does not think Gattuso will be going anywhere.

"Manchester United have tried many times to sign Gattuso," Pasqualin told Teleradiostereo Sport.

"But I think he will remain with Milan for next season also."

Yea, no offense but this is old news. I heard this a while back and it's true, he has had several chances to join United but either him or his agent didn't want a move to United. Nevertheless, he may be old or getting old, but I suppose every manager in the world would love to have him in their team.
