It's not Wes Brown himself, but his (deleted) agent.
Fergie barely speaks to the agent.
Apparently, Wes has been offered around the £50-55K mark. However, they (Wes + agent) want to get more or equal to players like O'Shea who are on more per week, yet are determined lesser players in the squad.

I would really hope Wes doesn't leave, but like many people have said, its not just down to him, but his agent as well. Wes has been at United since he was 12 i think, and it would be ashame to loose him because he is a good defender.
I think he has a valid point, why shouldn't he be on the same money as the likes of O'Shea, but nevertheless, I think if Wes were to walk away from OT then he would be a fool

Yeah i reckon Wes Brown would probably settle for 55k or whatever and not go along with his dick of an agent.

its nowt to do with wanting to be on the same level as john oshea and that. its simply becos the agent wants a bigger cut of wes's wage. bigger wage = bigger cut. if wes leaves becos his agent is a moneygrabbing (C U Next Tuesday) then he we REALLY regret it. he must sign.

wes is a red and aint a great defender but a good defender.
the fact that he has played the most this season shows how much fergie thinks of him.
i hope he will sign

He is awsome cover for ou 1st defence. Look at him for the past year while Neville is out! A solid defender and he is also a local lad which is good because you don't wana sepnd millions on a back up player and they will get unhappy like heinze whereas wes understands if he plays good he will make it. I hope that after the liverpool game he will also be considered more for England. I want him to sign and stay for a long time =)

Is Wes incapacitated??? He got the legal age to make his own decisions. Its so easy to blame the agent but the player has his share of responsibility as well. If he wants to stay, sign the contract. The agent only does his job, to suck out the last pound he can possibly get.

he's been playing rather well this season, replacing Gary and even without the likes of Rio or Vidic, he still play with alot of confidence... He may not be a great defender now but will be one in the near future... I think he will prefer to stay in Man Utd... As for the agent, change a new one...

it hit his back !!!! in all truth who would replace brown with neville for the run in ?
gary is available for selection now but i would not change the defence now as its been its most secure than for years .
wes seems to have cut down on the errors which often used to be costly .
gary is a true united legend nobody deserves title mr man utd more but now is not the time for sentiment surely .
it would be folly to let him gain match fitness in run in . what are your thoughts ?

Is this the reason Wes dont sign the contract. He's doomed to be stucked out on the right side and not being an option for the central defence?
I have no good alternatives. Dani Alves or Maicon would be great attacking options from the right fullback but are they good enough defensivly?
Ive seen the german Lahm a few time on TV and I cant say I've been that impressed. Offensivly he's been an impact but its the defence. What a horrible right side with Ronaldo and a weak right fullback to defend. UH! No thanks. But maybe I've just seen Lahms bad defending days.

This is quite new to me, as I was reading figures of his offer being 40k+ a week.
IF it is true that O'Shea is getting more, than I think Brown has a right to ask for parity, but may I ask what the reported figures of John O'Shea's contract are?

IF its true that o shea is making more money than him then he does have every right to ask for parity or more because he simply is the better defender. As for the negative comments about Brown, i find them sad. He has had a brilliant year. He is soo strong and decent going forward, his feet have got much better this season. Our defence has never been better yet people want him to leave? he is 25% of that defence, very good player. Has to stay and fergie knows this because he has played him more than anyone else this season and has always spoke great of his ability.

Sorry spwaff, from one hot prospect to another, what the (expletive deleted) are you talking about???????
Wes Brown has been chosen by SAF more than ANY other player this season. He is steady, experienced and, right now, THE best right back we have. He is also versatile and, now that Vidic may be out, Wes will become even more critical to our quest for the BIG double. Finally, YOU CAN NEVER HAVE TOO MANY EXPERIENCED DEFENDERS!!!!!!!!!!
Sir Alex, please do the prudent thing, sign Wes!
PS I don't know what his goal against 'pool, or how he scored it, has anything to do with it!

Brown on the verge of signing a new deal at Manchester United

Wes Brown will sign a new four-year contract at Manchester United in the next fortnight after his bitter stand-off with the club came to an end on Thursday night.
The 28-year-old right-back — and in particular his agent Paul Martin — have been on the receiving end of some stinging words from United manager Sir Alex Ferguson this season after the player turned down an initial offer to stay.
But with just weeks left on his current deal — and other Premier League clubs waiting — it is understood that United chief executive David Gill has agreed in principle a £60,000-a-week deal, structured heavily on incentives and regular appearances.
Manchester-born Brown is expected to sign after United's Champions League semi-final tie against Barcelona. He has made 41 starts this season but his on-field progress has come against a backdrop of acrimony as Ferguson tired of the player's prevarication.
Ferguson said earlier this year: 'Players today live in their agents' pockets — which really depresses me. Wes has been with us since he was 12 but I don't think that matters these days.'
United are also close to agreeing a new contract with Rio Ferdinand but Patrice Evra is now a priority. The France full back has a year left on his deal and is looking for a weekly deal of at least £60,000.

good news that he finally decides to sign. but i doubt he would play as much football next season with neville back. and with him in the team, we will not need a right back urgently. i wonder how are the likes of pique, evans, simpson get any game apart from carling cup matches.
i think we are caught in the middle of things. we would like to keep hold of our young prospects, at the same time we also want our long-serving players to stay in the club. i am just afraid that our young players see no opportunity to get any first team actions, and decide to move on

theres no way o'shea is on more than 50k a week. I dont understand, why doesnt Brown just sign, screw his agent, just get another agent who doesn't want as much?

Sign and hopefully Evra will follow suit...
The formidable defence this year was the contribution of Brown, Rio, Vidic and Evra...
Really hope that all stays...

He's Signed. So finally we can all let go a collective *SIGH* of relief. Wes's agreed to a new four year contract. I don't know the nitty gritty of the details but apparently a compromise has been reached so I assume that means he's now making more money although probably not as much as his agent was pushing for. I feel good about this. Here's the link to the article:

Oh yeah. Now Wes's contract is sorted and since Rio's 5 year deal is all but done and dusted, now Evra's new contract is top priority. I'm confident about that one though, for some reason no other clubs have been making offers to Evra like they do with most big players. I mean Real Madrid seem to make a more outrageous offer for Ronaldo every week, Benzema gets offers, Berbatov too. They never do that for defenders though and Evra offers as much to our team as Ronaldo does in my opinion though in a different way.

My fellow fans,
it really would not be that bad a thing if Wes left. I have watched him struggle for years and am glad that he is having a decent season in the wake of Gary's injury, but even this season he has had lapses of concentration and found himself caught out of position quite regularly.
His inability to close down opposition quickly while remaining mobile has been another gripe of mine.
I know he's a Manchester lad, but if he moves on, it will give someone else a chance. He knows in his heart that he is second choice when Gary's fit and at his age, I think he deserves to be playing regular first team football. At the same time, we need someone of Neville's calibre to take over and Wes is NOT that guy.
.................ah crap. Just as I wrote the above, the papers confirm he has agreed a new 4 year deal. I have mixed feelings about this. At least we can sell him in the summer now...muahahahahahahahaha

even if we sign him i think he will be a sub next year as we mostly will buy a RB in the coming transfer window.....so mostly he will be our sub than our main player....and he is not the best CB or RB......but him signing is good.....hopefully evra will follow and that will be better for us than brown signing the contract
