Ireland's most popular sport and raises the spirits of your heart when you
see grown men battling it out in the rain on a Friday night!

Obviously, I'm going for Dublin althogh they've fallen short for the last two
years in the semi-finals.

They're joint top of their league currnetly and the Championship is set to
get under way in a matter of weeks.

So am, I the only, G.A.A. fan here??

Funny enough mate, there are rules!

And, they are probably the most confusing rules any sport has!

Easy if you play it or watch it, but it's completly new to people who have never
seen it!

Note: Dublin have the largest following and the most ****y fans/players but they're useless :p

My county, Mayo, are far better and have a better history.

Kerry are the greatest team ever and dominate the sport at present.

What super news!!!!!!!

The good 'aul Sunday Game (Gaelic version of MOTD guys) has reinstated its trademark theme tune that we all know and love!

No more of that rubbish they had for three years!

For those of you who don't know what I mean, imagine MOTD changed its theme tune to something awful! Get me?

Heres the tune back on the screens, with some slight modifacations to its beat...

Dublin Vs. Westmeath this Sunday In Croker!

can't wait for it....The atmosphere is simply breathtaking on the Hill when the Dubs
are playing.

Its the Leinster semi-final so the winners are set for a place in the Leinster final,
one fixture which I've made sure I don't miss every season!

Dublin have the strongest pedigree in the Leinster championship, with their
stiffest challenges coming from teams like Laois and Meath, and the games
against Meath are what Gaelic Football was made for!

Dublin always seem to fall short of the Sam Maguire in September but no doubt
they've got the players to do the business. Alan Brogan, Stephen Cluxton (Best
keeper out there), Bryan Cullan, Jason Sherlock to name a few....

This was a meeting between the sides last year where Dublin prevailed.Hsdjeg4VHpE&feature=related

and,

This was a mad match played between the two earlier this year.

Really looking forward to Sunday and Westmeath though! :D

I love Gaelic Football!!! But I do not watch or follow the club level but instead I follow the International Rules which Australia takes apart in. This year in August I think it will be Ireland v Australia in Melbourne and for sure will be at the stadium and cannot wait lol

Has anyone ever heard of AFL (Australian Rules Football?) I am going tonight to the Melbourne Cricket Ground to watch Friday Night football and just like Keano, for me Australia's most popular watched sport raises the spirits of ones heart when one watches grown men battle it out playing AFL on a Friday night lol

Here are some links to AFL:

If Fermanagh had one decent forward you would have lost it at only half time.
What 10 or something wides from Fermanagh?

Dublin and Kerry are the only real challengers this year IMO.

Theres two games on Sunday and two on Sunday this week.

The qualifiers....round 3

Wexford V Down Croke Park
Mayo V Tyrone Croke Park

Fermanagh V Kildare Croke Park
Kerry V Monaghan Croke Park

Hope Monaghan stuff Kerry!....They deserved to beat them last year but the
experience probably told on them...

..but thinking with my head, I these teams making it to the quarters.

Down
Mayo
Fermanagh
Kerry

Armagh*
Dublin*...................................Provinci al winners
Cork*
Galway*

I'd love a Dublin Kerry final though TBH...I might have tickets this year too! :D

Kerry have match winners all over the field

Keano!
29-07-2008, 12:09 PM
The O'Shea's aren't on top form though.

Their bench probably one of the weakest left. When you see Mike Frank Russel on
a bench, you know your in trouble depth wise.

Dublin have Bernard Brogan to come back too so that will be a huge boost for us.

Kerry have been outplayed in the middle of the field in all their game sso far which
is an unsual thing to say about a Kerry team. I don't think they'll take Sam south
this year.

Its going North of staying in Dublin IMO

marty davidson

Paul Glavin banned cut down to three months now

Keano!
30-07-2008, 06:57 PM
Not too surprised by that TBH.

I have a theory that a Governing Body will review a situation and lay down a long
ban, knowing taht they offender will appeal and then they reduce the ban which
it was always going to be so they look good! lol

Just a theory of mine in the world of corruption we live in

He'll still miss a crucial game on Sunday! I'm off to it too...:D

...Old Trafford on Saturday and Croker on Sunday....Ahh.........sweet! :D

All Ireland Quarter final draw

Saturday 9th August

Armagh v Wexford 2.00pm
Galway v Kerry 4.00pm

Sunday 10th August

Cork v Kildare 2.00pm

Saturday 16th August

Dublin v Tyrone 4.00pm

You sure that the Dubs game is a single one?

Wasn't there uproar that Dublin wouldn't get enough tickts because there would
be a double header?

Ahh well......I have tickets one way or another, but at elast now I will have a
better chance of going to the Hill....

BTW......Hard luck to Monaghan today.........a bit more strenth and stamina and
they would have dispatched Kerry

Keano!
05-08-2008, 07:30 PM
In a way, I think its a disgrace this seasons championship.....

...think of this,

Monaghan were a team on an incredible roll and were oh so close to pipping
those culchie farmers...(LMAO...no offece to any Kerry lads here:p) and yet they
get knocked out whereas, Kildare go through in a game against a pathetic
Fermanagh team and in a game with no scoring at all for the first 25 minutes...

Luck of the draw I suppose....

How do you confuse a Kerryman?

Give him a spade and a shovel and tell him to take his pick! (The Irish will get me! :plol)

Keano!
09-08-2008, 06:12 PM
Just heard that Armagh went out to Wexford! Fair play to Wexford, coming back from the thrashing Dublin handed out.

...and Kerry were run close by Galway.

Championship is set up like so now...

Kerry Vs. Cork/Kildare (What a game Kerry Cork will be, Kildare have no chance)
Wexford Vs. Dublin/Tyrone (Chance for Dublin to embarrass Wexford again in Croker!)

Kerry Vs. Dublin in the final IMO

marty davidson
10-08-2008, 11:24 AM

Keano!
10-08-2008, 12:36 PM
They're the most physical left too.

Shane Ryan is a monster this year and they've all been through heavy gym work.

Tyrone will be a doddle as will Wexford but TBH, we need tougher games to
prepare. Kerry have had some bloddy hard games and that will stand to them,
Monaghan, Galway and soon to be Cork.

But, I've got a strange feeling that Cork will do their Munster rivals. ;)

It will be an interesting year....hope to God Dublin win! :o

As a mate of mine once said,

"Why would you play a sport where its hairy grown men bashing the ***** out of

Dubs and Wexford in Nowlan park a while back....so nearly won, drew and lost
the replay.

Anyways, this is a Gealic Football thread! :p
