Reading winger John Oster believes that fellow Welshman Mark Hughes has the
ideal qualities to become the next Manchester United manager.
The Blackburn manager has club and country managerial experience and Oster is
sure that he will be a top candidate once Sir Alex Ferguson finally steps down
from the Old Trafford hotseat, if he ever does !
Oster, who has been capped 13 times by Wales said;
"I played under Mark for Wales and he was just brilliant. He commands the
utmost respect for what he's done in the game.
"He has good backroom staff with Eddie Niedzwiecki and Mark Bowen. They were
with him at Wales as well and he's taken them to Blackburn because he knows
them quite well.
"There's no surprise to me that whenever a decent job comes up his name gets
put forward. He's a good manager and he'll only go on to bigger and better things.
"Who knows he could be the next Manchester United manager one day."
Oster could see the similarities between the two managers he knows well, who
meet on Saturday, Hughes and current boss Steve Coppell.
He added:
"Mark is not one to rant and rave all the time, but when he talks you listen. He
gets his point across, a bit like Steve Coppell really, but he can blow his top if
needs be.
"He's taken Blackburn from being a mediocre Premier League team to one that
should be heading into Europe. They are a very good team."
