Having watched several reserve games i have no doubt welbeck has the class to hit the big time running . And as saha is injured again should he be given a place on the bench for me lets give him a go when we have a game won . Let the lad settle and see what it can do .

after we are assured premier league victory then yes he should be played..or in a case when we are 3-0 up or something....dont risk him putting him in the big games.....only in the small games....

After we beat everyone including Chelsea at Stamford Bridge and wrap up the title than yes we should play all our reserves like Simpson, Pique, Wellbeck, Possebon and so on and rest our first team for the Champions League lol Umm Rooney and Tevez should do just fine even when Saha is out...no need to experiment when we are in such a critical part of the season imo...I would rather play Anderson up front of Ronaldo and use Nani and Park on the wings or even Scholes could play just behind the front man like he did many times before and there is always Giggs

why not mate wouldnt you rather have the option on the bench rather than not having any strikers on there i can understand peoples view that its risk at this stage of the season but I think it might give us that final push.

I agree, i wouldn't play him now as every game we play atm is VERY important and must wins. When we are - as akash said - assured the prem he should play :)

And again as Akash said, if he's on the bench and were a couple goals up, i don't see a risk in bringing him on ;)

Hopefully when we rest players if we've won the league by the west ham and wigan games at the end of the season we can give players run outs then, not now too risky, although welbeck looks good.

We could always give him a run out as a sub, if we're in a comfortable postion, or wrap up the league and then give him chance

Yes, yes, and yes again!

He deserves his chance! Looking at him in some of the reserves games, and he
really oozes quality!

Hope he gets his deserved chance in the near future!

In the games were we dominate and are 5-0 up at half time, yes definitely.

You say that as if we were 4/5-0 up at half time in 3/5 games! lmao.....

Like the optimism! ;)

He should play in the Carling Cup next season and perhaps the early rounds of the FA Cup and if he impresses and settles then he should be brought into the first team.

It would be complete madness bringing him into the first team now, unless their is a mass of injuries.

I've seen him too and his goals have been very especially the one against Newcastle reserves, but he's not ready yet. He needs to work on his dribbling and first touch, but he is a very good prospect.

I fancy another player from the reserves to step up ahead of Wellbeck and that's Rodrigo P.

He might have arrived only in January, but I like him already.

Thx! :) Maybe I suggest ue should PM the moderators of this forum about making a Sticky on 'Manchester United Reserves' thread. We could talk about all the football news revolving around our reserves' squad, the players' statistics, latest video highlights, upcoming games & etc. ;)

Nice vid.

The goals were ace.
Welbecks skill & finish for the 2nd was superb.
Then the teamwork for the 3rd was excellant aswel, if our reserves keep performing like that we've got a great future ahead of us.

hmmm yeah i agree lets have a sub forum for reserves news, and statistics and everything else. haha

hmmm as for welbeck, its too early now. carling cup games next season would do fine. or maybe a loan to a championship side. he's definitely's not the finished product yet.

if utd can wrap the league up with games remaining of course they should give some of the young uns a game, and hopefully young welbeck can score if given a game.

I've seen him play a number of times for the reserves and I've no doubt that he's a talented lad but he needs to be introduced into the 1st team slowly.

I know he had some experience of a big crowd in the friendly in Saudi Arabia but there's a massive difference playing in front of 76000 people at Old Trafford than a few hundred, if that, in a reserve game.

With Saha injured I wouldn't mind seeing Welbeck on the bench against Boro if Rooney and Tevez are starting. If we're comfortable he could play the last 15-20 minutes.

He may even make the bench against Roma since we're in such a good position in the tie and if we win the Premier League title before the final game of the season he may even get a chance to start.

I reckon next season we'll see more of him. If we have a Carling Cup run he'll feature and, if not, he'll probably go out on loan. He's a young lad - he has plenty of time to break into the 1st team.

At this stage of the season, I wouldn't have thought it's in SAF's plans to include Wellbeck. Every game is a must win and to put that sort of pressure on the lad would be unfair.

SAF definatly rates him highly though, he included him in his squad for the friendly in Saudi Arabia and brought him on as sub. Next season I can see him coming on the pre-season tour and then possibly going on loan for a while to give him some first team experience.

No doubt Danny has potential, but you can't make a career on potential. I hope if/when he get's his chance he takes it with both hands and we are talking about him as the next big thing at United, and not the next young United striker to fall through the system, e.g. Ebanks-Blake, Nardiello, Timm etc.

It's a bit of a strange one but United havn't got a great record at bringing strikers through the ranks. The academy has bought us some great players through the years but never really a top class striker. But as the saying goes, there's a first time for everything.

He will have his chances when SAF think he's up to it... Probably when the title is sercured... We mat see several others new faces on the game...

He is in the squad for sunday im expecting him to be on the bench in the near future maybe even tommorow fergie really rates him so why not even if he dont get on its experience of being with the first team.
