Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has sustained another
terrible injury, this time whilst training with his team.

Cech required 50 stitches in his lip and chin after a collision
with a team mate, during a training session.

Avram Grant refused to say who the other player involved was,

"It was a tackle between two players, it doesn't matter who,
all that matters is he is injured," he said.

Cech will miss the nest two weeks and is racing to be fit for
the visit of Barclays Premiership Champions, Manchester
United on April 26th.

Could this be a huge boost for the Red Devils?

i'll tell ya what. cech being out for them is like rio and vidic being out for us. he is a massive player for them and cudicini is no where near as good as he used to be.

My money is on Lampard. He is a one-man jungle.Probably collided with cech and tried to slow him self down but all that extra weight made him crash into Cech

Since I posted this, news has broken that,
it appears that the Czech will be out
for the rest of the season. Not
surprising considering he needed 50 stitches!

Ps. I beat him on the stitches count! ;) (65)

Holy smoke. It was Ben Haim who did it.
Apparently his stud got caught in Cech's bottom lip
and ripped all the way down to his chin.
He had surgery and is out for the season and possibly up
to 6 months.
He will have to get some new headgear for his face and all ;-)

I've just read that. It sounds horrific but Petr Cech reckons he could be back in as little as 2 weeks...

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has rejected suggestions he might be ruled out for the rest of season - and Euro 2008 - through injury.

Cech has been forced to undergo surgery to his lips and chin following a collision with team-mate Tal Ben Haim in training on Sunday.

The Czech Republic international was reported to have had 50 stitches in the wounds, with widespread reports suggesting the injury could sideline him for the remainder of the season and possibly Euro 2008.

But Cech has rubbished the rumours, and believes he could be back in action in as little as two weeks' time.

"I might possibly be back in two weeks. It depends on what the plastic surgeon will say to me," Cech told Idnes.

"I believe we will soon find a way of protection to allow me to return to training. Then everything will depend only on me.

"It is all about finding a solution to prevent a further tearing of the wound. But I believe that it will be sorted out and I will return to action as soon as possible. Doctors are positive as well, it should not be a big problem."

Cech is unaware of how many stitches he required after the collision.

"I don't know how many of them are there," added Cech. "During the two-hour surgery I was sleeping and afterwards I did not ask anyone.

"It is important for me to see the result. And it is much better than when it happened. The plastic surgeon did a great job."

Recalling the incident, Cech admitted it was just bad luck as he was closing in on a return to fitness after an ankle problem.

"It was simply bad luck, in training there are fifty such situations," noted Cech.

"It is a little bit frustrating as I was ready for a game and now this comes.

"Hopefully, I have all the bad luck behind me and everything will be okay for some time on."

I don't care who it is or what team they play for, but I wouldn't wish that on
anybody.

For such a young keeper of his class, he's been through some turmoil.

Hopefully he won't be seriously damaged mentally from this, as its a shame that
such a talent should go to waste.

Hopefully he gets better soon, although, its only good news for us in a football
terms........nothing else

Poor Petr...he's been in misery for a long time. I just hope he'll be alright for Euro 08, otherwise Czech Republic national team will go down in flames.

Cudacini is injured in the game vs Fenerbache, so if we're lucky, they might have to play Hilario vs us.

Reports are now suggesting that Cech will only be out for 2 weeks.
Cudicini could be a few weeks as well, so hopefully they can muck up
when Hilarious is in goal.
