Not counting the chickens yet, but Manchester United
are incredibly close to a Barclays Premier League and
UEFA Champions League double which would result in
Sir Alex Fergusons 2nd European triumph and yet
another majestic league crown. However, should the
scoop be complete, would this be one of if not the best
Fergie season?
Clearly 1999 was a historic story but this has got an
amazing feeling. Ferguson's red army has overcome many
difficulties and as the wily old Scotsman closes in on a title
retaining season, and what appears to be one of the best
chances in years for the United team to triumph on the
European stage, the burning desire to win at all costs is
burning more then ever. After coming from behind to topple
Arsenal, United are only centimetres away from getting their
tired hands on another title.
Sir Alex will be set to add more silverware to the clubs already
impressive trophy cabinet. This season, we've seen the great
side of Ferguson, beating close rivals, Liverpool 3-0 at home,
the determined side, scraping 1-0 results at the start of the
season, the ugly, as points were dropped at West Ham and
Bolton, and the joyous side which we all could clearly see after
he masterminded his way to victory over Wengers tired team.
If it wasn't for a shock upset against Pompey in the FA Cup, this
could have been the season when we could be saying at this
point......"Another Treble?"
