I can think of one or two Americans who would
be head to head for most hated,
but who is your all time greatest American?
Mine was a hard choice between
Ali
Martin Luthar King
or
Abraham Lincoln
But i think for me it has to be...
......Abraham lincoln.
Did a lot for manchester, we backed his stance of slavery and it screwed the city up, but he held his principles and we held ours.

Britney Spears ;)
Nah, It has to be Dr. King. He was one of the bravest and most courageous Americans ever and achieved his goal through hard work and determination.
They threatened to murder him and his family, they bombed his house while his wife and kids were inside, but he still stayed in Montgomery and fought for black civil rights. :)

I asked my daughter was there a lots of cops on the street in NY or her visit there last month? Yes she said, they are everywhere. Thats my vote, the NYPD policeman.
Edit: was watching a prog on sky this morning on the "Cop in the Sky". You should see the equipment the US Customs have!!!! They have more eqpt for ONE city, than we have in the whole of the UK. Planes, satellite, helicopters, IR, everything!

Paris Hilton, without a doubt....
is not qualified for this category.
There's so many great americans in the history and even if you in these anti-american days dont think so there's many great americans today.
One who havent been mentioned is Rosa Parks who refused to give her seat in a bus on her way home to a white person. People, this was as late as 1955.
Also Tatanka Iyotaka is one of the great americans. Many of you may know him as Chief Sitting Bull.

there were many people that refused seats and got thrown in jail, the difference is Rosa Parks was close friends with Martin Luther King, and this is why she got a lot of publicity for it. am not saying she's not great though, she was on the front-line in the 50's and 60's and she fought thru bravely - she is a great american :)

;) Nearly right.
She had previously served as secretary of the NAACP branch in Montgomery and was in fact friends with ED Nixon, a civil rights leader who then phoned King and organised a meeting where they decided to have a boycott.
Two teenage girls were arrested before Parks and fined.
What Rosa Parks did was of course brave and she was a very fine woman. However, I don't think you could even compare her to King. He was a revolutionary and one of the bravest Americans to ever live.

Gee, Willie Nelson would have a strong, strong, claim. Hang on, I've got it - If Willie Nelson and William Shatner had a love child and somehow managed to give the child some of Elvis' DNA as well that chid would be the greatest American. Hands Down.
