In my opinion........No. His performances this season have been awful.

Great player for us in the past, but this season :(

NO! Simple as that, he's now officially the most useless player in the squad.

Didn't he recently say that he might be able to play another season at United?

Did he mean for the reserves

I hate to say this but I think Nani should get the nod in the big games now.
Nani was great when he came on for Giggs. He made things happen, won
the ball back plenty and set up a few chances.
Giggs was pretty bad once again, very wasteful in possession.
This is becoming a problem. Im sure Fergie can see it but what will he do
about it?

It's sad to say, but I'm not sure I saw a single pass that had a United player on the end of it from Giggs today... I'd say start Park on the left and let Nani or maybe Giggs come off the bench.

Jazz you are totally right nani has been brilliant since christmas and is turning into a amazing player

Stephen

No he shouldn't.

Got better options with Nani, and arguably Park over the last few weeks.

Can stay for a squad player though.

no way!!!!! he has been awful the whole seaons and he shouldnt get the games......nani should 100 % get the nod......
giggs can come and pay as a sub in a game we are sure to win so that he can reach his record .......

-zuco-

We get in so many good positions when Giggs is on the ball,
then he gives it away and suddenly we're defending a counter
attack. I'm sure the players notice it too and I imagine they lose
confidence when he is on the pitch. He's been an amazing servant
to United for the best part of two decades but Fergie has got to
look past sentimentality and drop him for the good of the team.

Thats to harsh for a true legend like giggs as stephen says there is room in the squad against your lower clubs giggs can get games.

Giggs should only be in there for possession after we are up. he is not a goal threat, I have always said he will always be one of my favorite legends, but his game totals are not more important then us winning prem!!

He should be playing but Nani/Park as first choice...then comes Giggs imo
It really depends on who is on form really...for me the most in form player starts

yeah drop giggs he aint performing

I don't see why Giggs should be playing ahead of Nani. Makes no cow's sense.

The criticisms of giggsy are valid.

What I see is not necessarily a significant decline in techinical skills or physical ability, but a crisis of confidence. He is not playing with any right now. He also may be feeling the pressure of the young and very able players waiting in the wings (no pun intended).

The only way to rectify this problem is more playing time but I fear United will not be able to afford him that time.

I love giggsy (in a platonic sense only)!

Perhaps it would be best (for him) if he moved on to play for Keano.

Nani Should start.
He's Showing His Amazing Performance.

I dont agree with you about Giggsy. Its always like this when a player have a downperiod in form and not perform as we expect him to do, he's on his way out.
Of course we wont see Giggsy as he were playing 10 years ago but he's still got what it takes to stay at OT wearing his no 11 shirt.

When the storm is over he'll be lifting the trophy next season with the others when we win the 3rd in a row. :)

Nani Should start.
He's Showing His Amazing Performance.

From what we saw yesterday, Nani is certainly quicker, more penetrative, more composed and more impactful than Giggs for the umpteenth times. And his sublime ball skills both displayed and used intelligently to get pass players are jaw-dropping.

Nani is; Giggs was....

I'm a big fan of Giggs and that's whyI'm disappointed that Fergie continues to pla him even when h doesn't deserve to be selected.

I've written in a previous post why Fergie is still picking Giggs and the summary is that he is showing the younger players that he rewards loyalty, especially loyal players who play for the team.

The second issue is that he's helping Giggs break Booby's record.

I don't have a problem with Fergie selecting Giggs when it is non detrimental to the team, but right now Giggsy's form is so bad that laying him is bad for the team and bad for Ryan.

When you captain is giving the ball away all the time and making bad decisions, you have a big big problem and it effets his team mates too. In the first half against Blackburn you could see it in his team mates eyes that they were disappointed everytime he made a bad decision or failed to complete a pass and Ryan kept slouching and looking at the pitch everytime he did.

On current form and body language, fergie has to stop playing Giggs.

I couldnt agree more maybe it is just a form thing with ryan at the moment I wouldnt write him off as a player just yet he will be a squad player who guides the young lads along .

I think the days of Giggs starting are gone. He no longer has 90 mins in him. The same could be said about Scholes (in scholes case I think he affects your tempo and speed of play) Back to Giggs I now feel he is third choice behind Nani and Park. However I can see a role for Giggs in the Squad . With his experence and football brain he can play therole of impact sub ,coming on when a old /cool head is need in the last 20 mins of big big games i.e Arsenal.

20-04-2008, 10:34 AM
giggs is going through a tough time, but fergie still wants to give him chance to prove what he can do. at the moment it is not working, so giggs shld be dropped to the bench and give park the nod in big matches. giggs may still contribute to our title run in, but most importantly is that he goes and has a good pre-season and starts stronger next season.

No. He should be allowed to get his record caps. After that Giggs should bow down gracefully. It would be a shame to see such a devoted servant of the club become a liability to the team.

I think Nani should start against Barca much more athletic but Giggs deserves to get the record of most appearences therefore should get a game as a sub.

-zuco-
20-04-2008, 12:14 PM
There aren't enough games left this season for him to get the appearance
record. Considering we only have important games left this season, I think he
should be dropped now and he can play in the Carling Cup next season :p

I'm sure there is.

If he plays every game from now 'til the end of the season, and IF we get to Moscow PWBB; he equals it don't he?

He can equal it yes but Giggs has had nearly 100 appearances as sub where
as Bobby has played every minute of all his games (bar the odd 1/2).
Even if/when he equals this season he will still be 2nd in most people's eyes.

I didnt say anything about their achievements....Thats not the point here.
I know they are both legends but if Giggs 'equals' the record this season,
he still hasnt beaten it, therfore Sir Bobby would still hold the record.
Anyway Giggs will be around next season to break it, so we can discuss it then ;)

Giggsy has definatly lost something but as the old saying goes, form is temporary...class is permenant. I say that because at the moment Giggs is obviously not playing too well, but I'm sure he can still have a role to play in our side.

I think he should be used more as a squad player but I think we could still get another season out of him yet. At the moment Giggs is being criticised for his wastefulness is posession, and his inability to stick with the pace of the game. My suggestion to combat this would be to use him sparingly and coming off the bench. He is still capeable of flashes of brilliance and that could be the difference in some of the bigger games. I think the things such as lazy inaccurate passes will go out of his game sooner or later, remember he is only human and is prone to go off form once in a while.

As a first choice XI i think SAF has to play Nani, but Giggs is still a great player to have in the squad, for his experience and influence on the younger players if nothing else.

Ryan has been a true legend for United and a model professional, I wouldn't axe him just yet.

no. he has been terrible all season. i'm surprised that fergie keeps goin for him. anyone can clearly see nani and park offer more to the team.

park should be first choice, rotated with nani. put giggs on the bench.

So, if we reach the CL Final and Fergie plays Giggs instead of Nani, Giggs does his "usual" for these days and does not perform, then its OK if we lose, at least he played him? Winning the CL has no room for sentimentality - we either put out our best, or we don't.

akash_reds
21-04-2008, 09:31 AM
correct RD...we have to put out our teams with players in top form.....
but we also have to know that we have to beat barca befroe and playing giggs in that can be a problem too......bring him on as a sub and thats it.....he is not too fast to play against the attacking play of barca and we will have problems.....

nope. sadly he should watch it from the side.
