Blackburn Rovers provided a huge shock as they denied
Manchester United 3 points the evening at Ewood Park.
Blackburn took an early lead through Santa Cruz as
Ferdinand and Vidic got their wires crossed, after Carlos
Tevez had somehow missed a chance set up by Wayne
Rooney.

United performed very poorly in the first half never really
looking like scoring after the Blackburn goal. Ronaldo in
particular looking off-colour.

Half time saw the change of Nani on for Ryan Giggs who
was very disappointing in the first 45. Nani seemed to
add some spark but still United didn't click. Ronaldo
struck the post, and from there, United seemed to lift
themselves. Chances came and came but the big B'burn
keeper, stood in the way every time denying Rooney
twice and making countless saves throughout.

A breakthrough finally came when a corner swung in
was flicked on by Scholes and Tevez flicked on again
into the net to save United a point.

Rooney picked up what appears to be a hip injury after
a collision with Nelson. He was taken off after the goal
and replace by Park Ji-Sung. Reports after have been
that United "aren't too worried" and he should be more
than fit for the Champions League game against
Barcelona on Wednesday.

Whatever way you look at it, it's without doubt, 2 points
dropped and not 1 point gained. After the chances
United had they should have been able to dispatch
Blackburn, but credit to them as they plugged away
battling every tackle.

Questions loom over Ryan Giggs after a very lacklustre
performance, over hitting passes, poor decision making
and a clear no show in tracking back. The Welshman has
a lot to consider as the young guns, in Nani and
Anderson are coming through. Reports have been that
he will join up with old mate, Roy Keane at sometime in
his career.

Chelsea would have been delirious had United failed to score,
but the late late goal means that United's destiny
remains in their own hands, unless Chelsea beat them
by 20 odd goals next week), as United's fantastic goal
difference keeps their noses ahead.

It all means that United can afford to go to Stamford
Bridge, lose and still be able to control their destiny.
Chelsea will be banking on West Ham, who have won
their last three meetings with United, and Wigan Athletic
who took points off Chelsea earlier in the week, to do
them a favour and get anything off United.

A bit complicated? Well it will all unfold over the next few
weeks and this time next week, we Chelsea fans could
be singing with joy or crying into their pints.
