The FA promoting Diving and abuse towards officials!

Whenever a player dives, it is captured within the mind's of fans that have been watching football almost all their lives.
If you've been watching this game all your life, then you'll realise that there is a lot more diving and abuse thrown towards officials/referees nowadays.

By the FA taking no action towards this, they clearly are letting this go on as 'part of the game.' If FA are allowing this, they are clearly not professional people and are to blame for why young fans are so easily influenced by the behaviour of the players on the pitch.

FA seriously need to look at their disciplinary issues.

the F.A are a joke. when a replay clearly shows a dive, shouldn't that player be warned or fined after the match?

i hate to say it, but Rooney gave us a blatant dive last match against blackburn in the penalty box, which really annoyed me becos he had a chance to put a cross in from where he was, yet he chose to dive. ref gives nuthing, wasted chance !

Exactly. 100% agree with you Forever_United.

That incident in particular is what made me write on these forums. Dives are becoming more and more common and the FA need to take this seriously because its changing the way football is being played and putting more pressure on the referees.

Yep, sure did. Replays clearly showed how he faked it. What's worse is that he made such a big deal out of it later to the referee as if he was playing a game of 'catch my bluff.'

he definatley dived. it was poorly executed dive as well. he chose to drop while both his feet were fixed nicely on the ground. fell down like an invisbile man had slide tackled him at 60mph. he could of easy ran on and slipped a pass into the box. :mad:

I think this gets brushed under the carpet because its Rooney.
If it was Ronaldo we would ALL be moaning about him again, and
justifiably so. I hate diving and never would have expected it from Rooney.
It was one of those games where he easily could have been sent off.
His temperament has been amazing this season but he was close to the
border against Blackburn.

And that's why the course of football could take a U-turn if footballers use the 'if he's cheating, i'll cheat to even the advantage' approach and focus on making dives look realistic rather than focusing on the game.

agreed. when rooney first started out he was full of passion and wudnt have dreamed of diving. now he sees matches being won of a dive and stuff. he's givin it a go himself, exactly why the F.A need to crack down on it !

What's really sad on FA's behalf is that, it's not even a complicated issue - just need more disciplinary towards dives like fines and missing matches.

Its strange you mentioned that because I remember a thread a while back,
which showed a clip of a player diving on an ant farm that was on the pitch....

But back onto topic, the respect referees getting isn't acceptable. Referees, as a result, are now becoming more autocratic and have to show that they're tough and won't be pushed around.

It should be like cricket, the referees word is final.

Sorry for going off topic.....

I think it should go the way of Rugby, where ONLY the captain can talk to the ref
and if any dissent is given by another player they get 10 minutes in the sin bin.
Respect is the key word. There are some refs past and present that

I think incidents like Ashley Cole, Chelsea players and Mascherano have pushed
things over the edge. Everyone is more aware of this carry on, so we have seen it
reduced significantly in the latter part of the season.
