Personally, I'd just love it if we beat the dippers in the final,
but the prospect of losing to them in the final is far far worse
than the prospect of losing to Chelsea in the final,
so I'm gonna have to say I'd rather Chelsea win the semi... I think.
I know we have to get there first,
but who would you want us to play ?

My mind changes on this ALL the time. I dont think I can make up my mind.
I wrote this in another thread: Im still not sure who I would rather see progress out of this tie.
Beating the Scousers would be THE ultimate (If we were to get to the final)
but losing to them would mean pure pain and depression for the remainder
of our lifetimes......
Half of me would love the Dream final but the other half of me just wants the
Scousers OUT of Europe once and for all. Im sick of them getting to the final.

I'm torn for the same reasons as everyone else but, Liverpool regardless.
I don't expect us to loose to them in the Final.
We will win and mock their supporters for all eternity ( or at least until they do the same to us)
It'll be a great great day for us regardless.

Chelsea will be tougher to beat in the final imo...I want to beat Liverpoo in the final but I also want them out of the CL asap so they cannot brag about how awsome Rafa is and the 3 finals in 4 years blah blah and imagine they win it? We won it 6 times is what we will hear over and over...best if they get knocked out asap!! I am going for Chelsea for this one...even though I would love a Poo vs United clash..

Are you guys kidding me? Liverpool must be our preferred opponent in the Final!
I have a philosophical stance on this and believe you have to be able to beat everybody if you want to be the champ, so I don't really care who we get.
BUT if you are asking for a preference it has to be Liverpool.
We've just beaten them 3-0 in the league and Rafa has only managed to beat us ONCE. That's one single time in the last few years in charge. That's a big psychological advantage.
Tactically and technically we are superior to Liverpool, but not so with Chelsea, who almost have their first 11 fully fit now.
Also, we didn't manage to win against them in the FA Cup final and needed penalties to decide the Charity Shield.
Liverpool have thrown all they had against us and Ferdinand plus Anderson have kept Torres and Gerrard absolutely anonymous when we've played them.
Like I said, if you want to be champ, you have to prove you;re the best, so I don't mind either of them, but I prefer Liverpool.
Even if they win, it just goes to show that they are a team that can only win in tournaments.

great post RFR. and you make complete sense. I think this post has convinced

Liverpool 1-1 Chelsea
There was huge late drama at Anfield in a tense game in which fluent football was at a premium. It looked like it was going to be shaded by Liverpool, whose first half goal by Dirk Kuyt gave them a narrow advantage until, in the 95th minute, John Arne Riise gifted Chelsea an equaliser with a headed own goal.
Chelsea, who at times looked ragged, thus have a priceless away goal to take back to Stamford Bridge. They had had some earlier chances to equalise, but Liverpool might also have scored again. The dramatic way in which it ended leaves the tie intriguingly balanced - but just in Chelsea's favour now.
A scrambled goal by Dirk Kuyt towards he end of a tense, tight first half at Anfield put Liverpool in the driving seat in a Champions League semi-final first leg that Chelsea started the stronger. But the Blues allowed the Reds to come more and more into it and Rafa Benitez's side deserved their first half lead.
Chelsea looked tentative with Frank Lampard's set-pieces unproductive and Petr Cech unusually hesitant between the sticks. In contrast, Xabi Alonso was superb for Liverpool, bringing Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres into the game.
Benitez had recalled eight players for the game, Gerrard and the in-form Torres being joined in the starting line-up by Fabio Aurelio, Alonso, Alvaro Arbeloa, Kuyt, Ryan Babel and Jamie Carragher.
Chelsea manager Avram Grant picked Paulo Ferreira at right-back ahead of Juliano Belletti but made five changes from the side that beat Everton last week, with Lampard, Didier Drogba, Michael Ballack, Claude Makelele and Florent Malouda are given starts.
Chelsea started brightly, but Gerrard had the first attempt on goal, trying a snapshot from the edge of the area that Cech saved comfortably low down, before Alonso put Kuyt through on goal, only for the Dutchman's first touch on his chest to let him down, Cech blocking the ball which was then scrambled clear.
Torres stabbed a half-chance past the post before a promising move by Chelsea saw Ballack find Drogba, whose cross just eluded Joe Cole, who soon afterwards had a great chance when Lampard played him in with a deft chip that he made a mess of by miskicking.
With the game tight and cagey, few clear chances were being created. Drogba went down under Carragher's challenge as he ran through on goal, but the referee waved play on much to Drogba's indignation.
Then Gerrard found Torres with an excellent pass but the Spaniard shot straight at Cech when clean through on goal. Gerrard had a go himself with an ambitious volley from 25 yards out, but Cech saved it easily.
However, the breakthrough came ten minutes later - with 43 minutes on the clock. Alonso took a quick free-kick which caught Chelsea napping, and untypically, Lampard gave the ball away on the edge of the area. Javier Mascherano's miskick found its way through to Kuyt, who slid the ball through the legs of Cech as Makelele completely missed the ball. It was a scruffy sort of goal but a potentially crucial one, and Chelsea only had themselves to blame for conceding it.
Liverpool began the second half in dominant mood, buoyed by the goal, with Chelsea guilty of wasting possession too often, seemingly unable to keep the ball. Their big-name midfield players Ballack, Makelele and Lampard were not getting hold of the game as Gerrard and Alonso dictated play.
Chelsea looked to go long for Drogba, but the Ivorian striker was getting little joy from the Liverpool defenders.
On the hour mark, Babel nearly doubled Liverpool's lead with a sensational volley from 30 yards, Cech scrambling across his line as the ball went just inches wide.
Drogba found Lampard in space inside the area but the England man took a heavy touch and the ball went out for a goal-kick, summing up Lampard's night.
But Chelsea began to string a few more passes together, and they created a great chance when Malouda, free on the left, decided to cut inside and Mascherano had to get back to deflect his shot wide.
Drogba chested the ball back to Ballack whose volley was blocked by Carragher.
As the game moved into its last ten minutes, Chelsea wasted another chance to secure a possibly crucial away goal. They had men to spare as substitute Kalou raced towards the box, but his pass to Lampard was poor and Carragher was able to block. Then Ballack spun and went for goal from 25 yards out but Reina held his shot well.
At the other end, Gerrrard forced Cech to tip a volley over the bar. Torres was played in behind the Chelsea defence by Gerrard but his touch let him down and he lost the opportunity to run at Cech.
Then came the sensational finale - a dramatic twist to the tale as Kalou's cross, difficult for Riise to deal with facing his own goal, was headed past Reina as the Norwegian substitute chose not to trust his right foot but instead stooped low in a disastrous attempt to clear. His intervention has swung the tie in Chelsea's favour.
Teams:
Liverpool: Reina, Arbeloa, Carragher, Skrtel, Aurelio, Kuyt, Alonso, Mascherano, Babel, Gerrard, Torres. Subs: Itandje, Hyypia, Riise, Benayoun, Crouch, Pennant, Lucas.
Chelsea: Cech, Ferreira, Carvalho, Terry, Ashley Cole, Lampard, Makelele, Ballack, Joe Cole, Drogba, Malouda. Subs: Hilario, Shevchenko, Obi, Kalou, Alex, Belletti, Anelka.
Referee: Konrad Plautz (Austria)

the game was actually kinda funny to watch, at times i felt like liverpool were outplaying/passing chelsea which is not saying much because in terms of footballing technique and entertainment, it was a little shocking but i just hate watchin chelsea play. They really do play like a bunch of thugs, they jump so hard into tackles, all there players seems to sliding into dirty tackles and never play anything attractive. However if they get to the final they will not care. However i hope whoever wins from united/barca go on and win the tournament because at least we try and play proper football.

SO my answer is.... i dont want to see no shell suit wearing moustachioed thieving work shy scouser enjoying the fact theyve even reached a euro final. Yes they would be easier than chelski in final but our full first team paying those rent chelski rent boys would have more than a chance.

Personally i wouldn't want to face the prospect f facing L'Pool in the final because IF we did lose then i wouldn't be able to come out my house for weeks :(
But still i want Chelski REVENGE !!!!

I want Liverpool's season to finish tonight. We've beaten them twice already this season and have nothing left to prove. I don't want the bloody Scousers' self-belief as European experts to get any more inflated with another CL final. A semi-final exit will do nicely, thanks very much. We've got unfinished business with Chelsea, though, I want to break their fans hearts twice, by the end of the season (including their fat, grumpy gardener) and I want that (deleted) Abramovich to be humiliated in his own back-yard. Prior to that...
Major injuries and out for the rest of the season to Terry, Carvalho, Cole, Cech, Essien, Lampard, Cole, Ballack, Anelka and Drogba.
Stevie Me to kiss his BinDippers' badge at the start of the game, and to hand in his transfer request after they have lost.
JA Riise to score a couple of own goals.
Fernando Torres to lose his (deleted - you even spelt it out because you knew it was banned word) Oopsies, I forgotten that he doesn't even hve one!)
Permanent ban is now in force- Red Devil

For footballing reasons, I think I'd rather play Liverpool. Chelsea are a harder team to break down and our recent record isn't great against them.
However, if we played Liverpool in Moscow, I would be worried about the possibility of trouble between the two sets of fans. If there was any major trouble, UEFA wouldn't have to think twice before banning English clubs from European competition again. Although, I have heard that the Russians will only issue a visa to fans already in possession of final tickets. I would have thought this would greatly reduce the risk of ticketless fans clashing.

I you look at it without emotion, hard to do I admit, you have to want to play loserpool. Rafa the assa has never beaten us. NEVER! They would be an easier team to beat.
Chelski worries me a little more...
