With a possible domestic and European double
on the cards, Wayne Rooney has spoken of his
desire to emulate Manchester United's greatest
teams and even surpass their acheivements.
I hope that we can become the best United team
ever," he told Daily Star Sunday.
"When you play you are always looking at former
teams; you look how good they were.
"You want to try to be better than them and become
part of Manchester United's history. We know what
we want to do.
"We want to be the best and we know the only way
to do that is to win trophies, so we have to keep
winning them each year.
"We have done everything the manager has asked
of us and hopefully we can cap it off with a trophy,
or even two trophies, come the end of the season."
