Just a squad player for me at the moment! no more!
I think that he's the kind of player that manager's like more than fans. He is a passionate player who plays the exact role that he is asked to play. I think that he's good as a substitute.

He hasn't played all that many games... BTW, He's included in the team of the week and was the second best player this week according to the Actim Index which rates players' performance on a variety of factors... Also - he scored the second goal against Charlton in our 2-0 victory. I rate him as a better prospect than Kieran Richardson.

IMO he IS a better prospect then Keiran. Fletcher's doin a lot of work on midfield that a lot of people do not see. He keeps it simple most of the times and that's what i like, conquer the ball and do not lose it by keeping it simple. I think he's learning from Scholes.

The way we've got to look at it is that we have a very good squad rotation system and certain players need to be rested for the title run in, I actually happen to think Darren Fletcher's a really good player.
The rotation of the players is vital if we need our best players to face teams like Chelsea and Liverpool....I read on another forum that the only reason Fletcher is there is because he's Scottish and so is Sir Alex, but that is bullcrap, if you're going to play for a club of Manchester United's calibre then you must be good enough and why would Fletcher be in the side if he's not good enough?

i would agree to that on the basis we couldnt get another midfielder. if we can get another midfielder then we should sell fletcher. but if not give him a chance. even though i still think he isnt good enough.

Fletcher is Not a good player.
While watching the Reading game last night I just kept hanging my head in shame at all the mistakes that he constantly does. He runs around the pitch like a headless chicken.
It was not just in that match, he is very consistant at sucking!!
If you notice, Scholes tries his best not pass to him cause he knows how bad he is, ha.
His pass rate accuracy was about 20%
Gave the ball away about 75%
IMO Alan Smith is a much better player, he can score, movement, pass (fair at the moment he has been injured but as soon as he is match fit he should replace Fletcher without a doubt).
Fletcher is a waste of my viewing time, the sooner we get a midfielder in the summer (Hargreaves, Adu) the more he'll become down the picking order.
Darren Fletcher's contribution has be vital this season. No one can dispute that! If the fans would get off his back and allow him to develop then he can be a top player for United. The players value him very much as do the coaching staff. Thouroughly deserves his medal (s) at the end of the season. Theres a lot lot worse than Darren.

He's not Manchester United quality ! - just like Richardson and Silvestre. There just not good enough cover for the likes of Ronaldo, Scholes, giggs ...........
Lets not kid yourselves. this forum is full of people trying to get information on the club cos the don't really know very much and they don't go to the games like real fans. I was asked by one of the supporters associations at United to see whatyou guys were like. Clueless in terms of a team you sort of like or just follow for glory is the answer. Don't thinkI need to say more. My point has been well and truly made, I won't waste anymore time here, going to continue following the club with REAL fans and not guys who claim to support the club and their only involvement is talking sh**e on this.

This is perfectly true. I have been to more games than you lot have had a bottle of your fav tipple but cannot get to the ground nowadays. So, does this not make me a fan anymore? Am I no longer interested in United? Rubbish.
Those of you who are just out of nappies will realise that, when you grow up, meet the right lass and get married, buy that house, and pay your bills, you will sadly realise that United is not the priority in your life anymore.
I still get to OT but very very rarely and its usually because a friend has got me a ticket, it is all so expensive now. A while back I took my youngest daughter to her first game and I had zero change out of £100!!!
But those of you who cannot get to Old Trafford for whatever reason does not make you any less a fan of the best club on the planet. Be proud of your support, be firm in the face of the match going fans who think the less of you. The only thing I would question is your motive.
I have supported United through thick and thin, stood on the Stretford End is howling rain and hail, in the second div, supporting my team, but many of you have NEVER seen a bad United team, never seen anything other than Fergie in charge and have always supported a highly successful side - SO WHY DO YOU SUPPORT UNITED?
If your motives are pure and you will still be here if we - heaven forbid - crashed and burned like Leeds - then your a fan.
Now back to the topic in hand - Fletcher.
Fletcher has got what it takes to be a good player at Old Trafford and he has shown this on a few occasions but I am unsure of whether or not he can survive in such a good squad that we have now with our recent signings. The fact that he has made it through the system speaks volumes as many of our kids never make it in spite of rave reviews in the Youth and Reserve teams.
I question why you decide who is fit to be in a United shirt, or not. You are spoilt by success. Fletcher is worthy of a United shirt or Sir Alex would not allow him to survive there. The mere fact that he is wearing the red shirt of United warrants your support instead of slagging him off.

i think he can play better than people expect him to be able to, i also think the reluctance of the fans to support him gets him down, resulting in poorer play when he is capable of some really skillful and technically great moves. i think his slight of frame can be turned into a positive if you could imagine this resulting in a greater reliance on other areas of the game other than physical side(where he cant be said to be affraid of gettin stuck in with the tackles anyhow) on one twos, short passes, reading the game quicker, intercepting, movement, flicks, fakes, megs, he can do them all but the old trafford faithful cant appreciate them as all they see is a skinny fella tryin his heart out. Forget bein a cynic and findin faults, just support the lad for feck sake

To be honest when Fletcher first broke into the scene at Old Trafford I thought he had potential but the season after that (2005-2006) He was pure utter rubbish. He was one of the worst players I've seen wear the Manchester United shirt, I wanted him out of the club because he was the core factor of many of our poor performances that season.
This season (2006-2007) however he has been excellent. He has never held a midfield place but he has slotted into the team and done really well. (Charlton away, Liverpool home, Roma, Milan at OT) He has now transformed from "garbage" to "solid and reliable" and to be honest without his contribution we might not have won the league. He has become one of my favorite unsung heroes and I can't even believe I hated him before.

Another good quality about Fletcher that most fans overlook is his ability to hit accurate long balls he hasn't done them much back in the title winning season but that is because he was called upon to do the defensive work rather then create. But if you look at the seasons before. Remember his long pass to Rooney which led to United's first goal in a 3-1 win at Newcastle and his pass to Ruud against Fenerbahce. One of my favorites is his through pass to Van Nistelrooy-the first goal of a 2-0 win against Villa.

Too right, Fletch is a great guy to have around, can do RB, CM or RM comfortably and he is a better tackler than most people give him credit for. I never worry when i see him coming on or starting, he gives his all and has a nice range of passing and is very comfortable in possession. Quality player and a true Red!!

you might know more about the war (rivetting) but we know about united aswell. I have just seen this thread and you really should try reading what I wrote, not what you THINK I wrote.
The point being made is that many of you have been brought up on success, you know nothing else. You are, by definition, spoilt.
Most of you know no other manager than Fergie. You have not seen the struggles, the defeats, players coming and soon going, unable to take the pressure. Thats my point. I sit here and read about this player or that player being slagged off. Look at the broader picture. They are considered good enough to play for the best team in England, possibly Europe. Sometimes they have a bad game, or three, but some of you, not all of you, just some, slag off people who are good enough to wear the shirt of United, the same players who have managers all over Europe queueing up to sign them if and when they become available.
My own point was that, having been there and got the obligatory T shirt, I feel that I am possibly better qualified to make such remarks, having seen the best, and the worst, United have had to offer over the years. But, it is only in the past 5 to 6 years that I have seen so many fans calling players out and wishing fates worse than death on them.

Fletcher is turd, honestly. He is so out of his depth at United its untrue! I can't stand it when he gets ahead of certain players just 'cos he's British essentially.
This is no criticism to phil Neville, but fletcher makes Phil Neville look world class.
The reason he looks half a player for Scotland is 'cos Scotland play a grafting, workman style of play where chasing down a man is as good as anything you do WITH the ball. In a team that is best WITH the ball he is exposed.
Needless to say, i don't rate Fletcher at all.
