The latest FIFA rankings have been announced today and Argentina have extended their lead over second-placed Brazil by 46 points with Italy in third and a fair way behind the two leading teams.
However, if the Italians do well in Euro 2008 that all may change as also other places in the top 20, which includes ten of the qualifiers for the competition.
England, who did not qualify for EURO 2008, have made a strong impression by breaking into the top ten (9th, up 2).
Australia are are now ranked and overtaken Japan as the top-ranked Asian-Oceanic team, while Cameroon are now 13th and Egypt are among the most notable African climbers.
The biggest movers in the last month are Philippines (170th, up 19) and Togo (69th, up 17). Others that deserve a mention are Belarus (57th, up 3) and Montenegro (142nd, up 8), who have continued to climb in recent months and who have achieved their best position since the ranking was introduced.
The Top 20
1 Argentina
2 Brazil

4 Spain
5 Germany
6 Czech Republic
7 France
8 Greece
9 England
10 Netherlands
11 Portugal

Anyway, i wanted to make it to have a right laugh at England....

Thats a complete joke, they didnt even make the Euro's ffs
I always wondered how they worked out the points.....
In other news Ireland are in 42nd :o (on the up though;) )

England will do well with these testing friendlies they are playing too ...
More points to show how good they are ...
I mean the USA, Trinidad & Tobago and Andorra are worthy opponents arent they ?
I'm proud of my boys, Romania.
Apart from Adrian Mutu not many people here could name one of our players ...
But we're 12th !!!
With France, Holland and Italy in our group at Euro 2008 things could get a bit scary

You think Romania have a chance then Carly. I'm worried they'll go home with zero points but at the same time, how great would it be if they went through. Great luck to them i say!

Romania's last match was against Montenegro and
your next friendly is against Latvia Then there's the
tough game against Lithuania for a World Cup qualifier. Pot....kettle...black.... :)

and we would all say YES !!
Our guys would walk to Austria
for this ... sleep in a hut and play
for no money at all !!!
To play for our country is a great
honour and a privilege they will
remember always.
We dont need big time players ...
just brave patriotic ones and you
can do amazing things !!
Steaua Bucuresti won the Champions
League ... playing with 11 Romanians
who got paid absolutely nothing !!!
.... and reached the final again the following year !!
In the last 9 months we beat Holland
twice and got a draw too ...
Do we have a chance ?
I think so yes ...

Maybe England might get brave and face someone in the top 50 .... :D

Except France
Following the news that England's game against T & T could be void the article I read said this could cost England 2 places in the World rankings!!! How can beating Trinidad & Tobago make such a difference?!
I'm sure we'll drop down the rankings after Euro 2008 is over anyway.

15th is probably fair. We're definitely not top ten quality.
I can only see us rising up the list though under Capello.
I'm not sure how Argentina have dropped from 1st to 6th

Because they were very poor in the qualifiers and the teams at the euros will get more points naturally
