on my part..playin for liverpool is not an issue...to them players...its different, i mean we fans would be die hard..to them its a job, they have to find the best offer that suites them, wat i was wondering about is his relationship with united staff and players...

There is some basis in fact for this report as both clubs wanted to keep a lid on it, but it was leaked. Newcastle will not be happy as they have only just spent £150,000 on treatment for Owen in Colorado and have not been compensated by the FA due to his injury occuring when he was playing for England. Also, all the time Owen has been out injured he has been paid by Newcastle.
Do we want him? I don't think so. Do we need him? I don't think so.

even ole has had his fare share of injuries, and i think Owen is better then Saha so i dont see why we cant use a player like him.

i will never and that mean never have a player like owen in my team, i hate him as a player and as a person, the only thing he can is running, he is horrible in front of the goal, and he has a bad foot, so he cant cross the ball, what shall we do with him in man utd, he will never be better than saha, sunny,smith,giggs,ronaldo,rooney, so he will be number seven forward in utd, and that we have rossi when he comes back, we have the chineese forward to , who is better than owen.and we have gailbright, fagan,brandy,and many other talents in man utd, who also has bigger potensial, so i will never see owne in man utd,

well ivamikkke....a player like owen is athe calibur we need cuz he has the pace and the control to be runnin along C.Ronaldo when rooney is all covered with defenders...besides...i think owen is better than saha....saha has missed so many chances that owen would never miss, saha is no super player, he just has someone to chip in good passes for him, the likes of ron, roon and giggsy

You know he is a truly great player but now he's heading into his mid 30's and he's definitely injury prone, as much as I would welcome him to Old Trafford, I think we need a striker like him but younger and with more goal scoring ability, perhaps if we had bought him earlier in his career (which would of been impossible, saying as how he is a scouser) then perhaps he would of been a great value to us.

Mid 30's??? Are you still talking about OWEN??? Michael Owen Will be 27 years old at the start of next season!!! and still has PLENTY to offer. He is injury prone but not to the extent that most people think. In his liverpool years he made 40 or more appearances in 5 out of 7 full seasons and in the other 2 seasons made 30 and 38 apps. He scored over 20 goals in each of those 5 seasons and even in his 2 injury hit seasons he still managed 19 and 12 goals. Look at Saha's stats and injury record and I think you'll find it compares rather favourably. That was all playin in the Liverpool team, he would score far more playing in a UTD team that plays better, quicker football and creates TONS more chances per game. He managed 45 apps for Real Madrid and even scored 7 in 11 apps at Newcastle before he broke his foot. The fact that he played for the scousers is IRRELEVANT IMO. Robbie Fowler was a boyhood Everton fan and we all know about his career at Liverpool, I would happily put Gerrard or Terry in the UTD team tomorrow. All that matters is if he would be commited to the club and could improve the team that we currently have. The answer to both would be emphatically YES!!!
Rooney and Owen have pretty much been awesome when playing together for England and I have no doubts that he would be a TREMENDOUS signing for MUFC.

Torres = 20 mil
Etto = 25 mil
Berbatov = 18 mil
Or..
Michael Owen 9 mil. a proven goal scorrer in england. Id go for owen..
Although their is a massive risk because he's injury prown.
& i wouldnt mind seeing the next van the man in huntlaar :D

Owen is a decent player but I think we can do a lot better than him. He is injury prone and possibly a bit too old. He may be past his best. Berbatov and Eto'o would be close in age to Owen but in my opinion they are way better. Or we could go for a younger striker like Torres or Huntelaar who could be great for many years to come.

old? 27 when the new seson starts...
owen hargreaves is the same age..
But he is injury prone.. at 9 mil it could be the bargin of the summer but far too risky! id like huntelaar for 12 mil :D

actually owen hargreaves is 25...and so far it looks like hutelaar is the most likely signing

could you please explain to me how he would not be siutable to us
we could do with someone in our team who has the experience that he has
and his price tag isn't that big either
if he stays at newcastle and score 20+ goals then his then his tag will get up about 20 again and our chance will be gone
fergie took a risk with veron and payed over 3 times that ammount for him

I wouldn't mind if we signed Owen but I would prefer to sign Anelka as he still has pace and would fit in more with our style of play. He even managed to score at City ffs! I hope we do sign another striker though as Saha is recovering from surgery, as is Ole and Smith doesn't score enough goals. If we don't sign another striker we are looking almost certainly at a 4-5-1 formation for most of next season.

Crap? He's the fourth top goalscorer for England, ever.
And he's only 26 atm, that's amazing.
He's England's best goalscorer.

But yet his injury record was quite amusing, seems as we sign another Saha. They will be great pals in physio room together :D
and I am not too sure Owen could cope with squad players role if United really signed Tevez. I reckon SAF will partner Rooney with Tevez instead with Owen.
I got a favourite name that we should really look into instead of Owen, he is Leroy Lita of Reading. He could be a very good striker both clubs and England later.

I really cannot see Owen signing for United but if we miss out on Tevez who knows??

What an irony.
Signing another injury prone player to back up our own injury prone Saha. Nothing good will came out from that.

Again the Liverpool issue is secondary, the fact is he is past his best (as with Henry except Owen was never that good). United has enough young talent here now to do without, we already have one sicknote (Saha) and we dont need another. Owen is at Newcastle now because that is the level he is at, I think he'll start the season there and do ok. If you were looking for a striker of that mold, I would much prefer Defoe, young, prolific and not too expensive, definitely too good for Pompey anyway.
