Juventus striker David Trezeguet has announced his retirement from the international game and he has blamed Raymond Domenech for his decision.

The Frenchman was snubbed by Domenech for this summer’s Euro 2008 tournament despite the striker scoring 20 goals last term for Juventus in Serie A.

Trezegol is on pre-season duties with the Bianconeri and he has waved good bye to the international game.

“Domenech stays means that I leave the French national team,” Trezeguet told La Gazzetta Dello Sport.

“The poor Euro 2008 by France and the coach’s choice to stay have led me to take this irreversible decision.

“I have seen a different football to that which they see in France and the Euro’s were so negative.

“However, what makes me angry is Domenech staying on as coach.

“Too many political rather than football decisions are being made and the public opinion is not being respected.”

The Old Lady hit-man then had a few words on his club side and he believes some more players need to come in to make that vital step up.

“We need to win some important trophies this year and we have to make the odd signing in order to make the step up in terms of quality,” concluded the former Monaco player.
