Ben Foster and Mikael Silvestre will line up for the Reserves against Newcastle on Thursday evening as they bid to hone their match sharpness.
England goalkeeper Foster recently started the second string's victory over Middlesbrough, while Silvestre starred in last week's thumping win over Manchester City.
Danny Welbeck was the hero against the Blues last week, scoring a hat-trick, and he looks likely to start against the Magpies with either Chris Eagles or Italian starlet Federico Macheda alongside him.
Highly-rated Irish youngster Robert Brady is also named in Brian McClair and Jim Ryan's squad, and could make his first Reserves appearance as United play their penultimate league game of the season.
The match takes place at the Marston's Arena, Northwich (KO 19:00 GMT) and will be shown live on MUTV.
United squad: Foster, Zieler; C Evans, SIlvestre, Eckersley, Chester, Norwood; Jones, Possebon, Cleverley, Galbraith, Eikrem, Brady; Eagles, Welbeck, Macheda.
Does anyone know where gary neville is?
Does anyone know where Sam Hewson is?
strange :(

Sorry, but I think ue started this thread in the wrong sub-forum.
I think it will be more appropriate if ue actually post this in the
'Matchday' discussion forum, rather than here. Thx! ;)

From the look of the squad Brian McClair has decided to call up some of the youth team players and try them out in the reserves.
Gary Neville recently said he thought he was ready for 1st team action but didn't think he'd get a chance this season because of the importance of all the upcoming games so perhaps there's not much point playing him in the reserves.
We've got virtually no chance of winning the reserve league and McClair already has a good idea of what Hewson can do so I wouldn't read too much into his absence either. Although, it could be possible that he's negotiating a loan deal to a lower division club.

Is this player, Hewson, a relative of yours hart. You have been going on about him for a few days now. Or are you in disguise? Have you tried the offical site?

well sorry for taking pride in the young lads coming through!!
im not one to just start raving about plyers after theyve impressed at OT.
.......he never played last week either...maybe hes injured.
gary neville will still have to play games cos he could be called upon at any time. i doubt him stopping playing is the choice made.

He did say he's ready for 1st team action, perhaps he's not playing tonight because he'll be on the bench on Saturday?
Like you I checked manutd.com and there's nothing on there explaining it so I'm just speculating about Neville and Hewson.
I'll watch the game on MUTV tonight and see what they say.

Yeah, no problem. It won't be until tomorrow morning though because I only have access to the internet at work.
I wanted to watch the game to see how Foster and Silvestre got on. It'll also be good chance to look at Possebon and Welbeck too.

Right, just checked the score on MUTV and...
United 0 Newcastle 1 as it stands.
Mikael Silvestre is playing left back and Foster is in goal. No Neville as said before.

ive bits of possebom.
I know a good specialist in Nuffield hospital Birmingham can get rid of that for you. I suggest leaving girls alone, possibly for about 70 years ;)

I'm going to this game at St james Park on the 31st March. :D How much do Reserve games cost? It will be great to watch Foster, Gary, Mikael and Eagles in the flesh.

I'm most interested in seeing Robert Brady, Eikrem, Possebon and Macheda. Don't have any way to watch them in action though. Unfortunately. :(

Dunno, most probably pay on the gate. Only a fiver for our homes at Northwich as far as I know, free with One United.
Best to contact Newcastle United directly. When you do get back to us, if you can.

Great result last night. Good to see Macheda & Wellbeck both on the scoresheet. Those 2 are coming along nicely.

It was a really good performance by the reserves. When Newcastle scored in the 1st half it was against the run of play. Welbeck, Marcheda and Eagles linked up very well up front throughout the game.
Welbeck's goal was brilliantly taken. His drag back totally foxed the defender and then he assuredly smashed it into the net. His one-two with Eagles for United's 3rd was top class aswell.
It was great to see Marcheda score on his reserve team debut with a well-taken finish with the outside of his right foot. Silvestre and Foster got 90 minutes under their belt and the only downer was Possebon being taken off injured just before half-time.

I went to tonights game at St James's Park, finished 1-1. I got a great view and I managed to meet in person Brian McClair and Gary Neville, I patted Gary's shoulder and said well done. :D
I also got a photo took of Newcastle's rising footballer Andy Carroll after the game. A few United fans there but I clapped I cheered Manchester United on throughout the game.
I even saw myself faintly on the reserves match repeat on MUTV, only faintly though.
