I am really undecided about Liverpool.

They have to win in Marseille or they are out but if Marseille lose then they are out so it'll be a tight encounter.

The Scousers are in good form at the moment but they may have one eye on the visit from United a few days later and it'll be interesting to see how many players are involved against Marseille and United.

I'm going to have a cheeky bet on them not to qualify.

Celtic need a draw in Milan to be sure - and that result will also guarantee Milan top spot. I'm just wondering whether Milan will want revenge for their defeat in Glasgow. Even if Celtic lose they are still through unless Shaktar beat Benfica so I think they have a great chance.

Rangers just need a draw at home to Lyon so I think they'll do it too.

Although picking 2 Scottish teams to reach the knock out stages is definitely a gamble!!!

2 Scottish teams qualifying just carries on the good work of their national team.

Seems the Scots cannot go wrong right now, lol......

As for Liverpool.....

Well they have a nasty habit of getting through just to upset us United fans ffs.

One bonus for us though - Pool have to send their best team to France and play really hard to win - then face United 4 days later......

'Ave it !!!!

I've just checked the qualification summary and Liverpool can still qualify if they draw and Besiktas beat Porto

It's a bit but I'll try to explain it...

If Besiktas win and Liverpool draw then Besiktas are on 9 points so will be top of the group.

The other 3 teams will be on 8 points and teams level on points are decided by head-to-head results.

I thought this would mean Liverpool would be out because Marseille would have a better head-to-head record against them.

However, Porto have a better head-to head record against Marseille but a worse head-to-head record against Liverpool and Porto can not be above Marseille AND below Liverpool based on head-to head results because Marseille are above Liverpool!

This means it will be based on head-to-head goal difference. Liverpool hammered Porto 4-1 last night so would go through on the goal difference based on results against Porto and Marseille only i.e. the 8 they scored against Besiktas are not taken into account.

Does that make sense?

Besiktas are pretty poor and wont beat Porto away. We just have to worry about the pool game, which Pool HAVE to win to qualify. A 0-0 would be ideal.

This is great thread! I like these bets, really.

...will qualify....
...won't qualify....

But my sixth sense tells me not to bet on this - and I'm dutifulness, so I won't bet.
