City - Mass Clearout!

Manchester City boss Stuart Pearce has started his rebuilding plans in earnest by releasing ten players. Among those culled by Pearce are Kiki Musampa, Albert Riera and David Sommeil. Pearce is looking to reshape his squad for next season and is ready to offload the players so that he can free up money to bring in new faces. Musampa and Reira's axing come as something of a surprise as the pair established themselves as regular members of Pearce's side this season. However, Pearce has decided not to turn Musampa's loan deal from Atletico Madrid and Reira's loan stint from Espanyol into permanent deals.

French defender Sommeil has been informed his contract which is due to expire in the summer will not be renewed. Dutch goalkeeper Geert de Vlieger and Danish defender Mikkel Bischoff have been allowed to leave along with Tuomas Haapala, who only joined the club earlier this year. Reserve quartet Ian Bennett, Karl Bermingham, Paul Collins and Michael Ward have also been told to look for new clubs. Sky Sports News

Wow! Thats what you call a clearout. Brave move by Pearce who has never shirked making decisions.
