Drogba blames complacent team mates - I love it!

http://www.football365.com/story/0,1...564634,00.html

Didier Drogba has accused his 'complacent' Chelsea team-mates of throwing away the title.

The Ivorian cited the Blues' tendency to concede late goals as being the cause of their failure to regain the Premiership - and insisted they had nobody to blame but themselves. Highlighting the late equalisers scored by Bolton, Aston Villa, Wigan and Everton, Drogba complained: "Losing those eight points has been massive for us. It is far too many for us to lay claim to being champions.

"It is certainly proof of an excess of complacency and a lack of concentration on our part. Each time we had the result in our hands, but sometimes we mentally finish games before the referee blows the final whistle.

"Manchester United deserved their title. They have been rewarded for their consistency. We have made too many mistakes, including on Sunday when we let Bolton equalise 30 seconds before the end of added time."

But, speaking to French sports paper L'Equipe, Drogba was more circumspect on the matter of his future at Chelsea.

"The only thing I'm thinking about now is the final in Moscow. I don't know what will happen in June or July," he remarked.

According to reports, Drogba is angling for a move to AC Milan and will not be offered an improved contract at Stamford Bridge as an incentive to stay in London.

Instead, the club are already considering their options to replace the Ivorian, with Dimitar Berbatov, Stuttgart's Mario Gómez and Valencia's transfer-listed David Villa thought to be among those under scrutiny.

- This is the sort of thing I love to read before a major final and I hope some of his team mates are reading it too. I think team spirit goes a long way and we definitely have that. Ballack might be the flavour of the month, but he has not always been popular and until recently was only celebrating with other outcasts whenever a goal was scored. And then we saw that little tiff between Ballack and Drog-boy.

Also, terry trying to convince Carvalho to stay on the field thereby implying he didn't believe Carvalho was injured that badly. Of course, they are professional footballers, but it;s then end of a grueling season and it;s the final of the Champions League, when push comes to shove somebody in the Chelsea ranks might snap and I would love it, if that were to happen. Bloody mercenaries!

There has been discontent in the camp all year.

Rumours of fights, arguments, and splits were rife all year.

But before a CL final? I don't know whether it was good or bad. It may be good, as they may crumble. But it may be bad as it may fire them up even more.

Meanwhile, the Champions are together and are truly United! Its fantastic!

That's one of the many things that make this team great.

The team spirit is there. With the likes of Becks, Nevilles, Butt and Scholes growing up, they really forged a good friendship and i even read about Giggizy and the Nevilles heading voer to Becks in the middle of the night when he thought a burgler was in the house.....we it was something like that.

The point is that there are true friendships in the squad and in stressful situations you tend to be more forgiving when you have strong relationships with others in the team.

He's leaving in the summer.

The minute I saw him push a coach away and point him straight in the face at the United, game I knew he was leaving.

This just compounds his exit and just makes him look as if he's a victim in it all.

Despite his skills and ability, he's a cheat.

Good luck to him and thats a few dives gone for next season!

Not going to miss him one bit to be honest. His diving is humiliating for our league.

It's funny. I always used to dislike Drogba. I loathed the way that he dived as much as anybody but Ronaldo always got the "diver" tag.

I also couldn't fathom how people kept saying how brilliant he was. For me he was decent but that's it.

His antics canceled out any talent he may have had. Then all of a sudden it happened. The 06/07 season defied description.

No diving. 30 league goals, respectively. It's funny that just when I'm starting to "get" Drogba's talent he's turning 30 & heading out the door.

I finally understand what people were talking about, when they discussed Drogba, only he's leaving so I won't get to appreciate it.

Don't get me wrong I still dislike Chelsea & Drogba but at least I finally get all the hype. The crazy thing is it was the exact same with Mourinho.

I spent 2 years wishing he would shut up & when he finally left I wondered why it was so quiet.

Scarier still I can see it happening with myself & how I view Ronaldo. As much as I admire him, I seem to find myself arguing against him on forums.

I mean I truly enjoy watching him so why do I constantly subscribe to the view he's over hyped?

I'll probably be arguing against him till he leaves. Then I'll be posting this exact same reply in a thread about Ronaldo.

Seriously why can't I ever appreciate talent until after they leave?

I really hated Drogba until last season. And then I had to grudgingly put my hands together an clap once in a while.

Last season, Chelsea came back time after time. Against Wigan, against Everton and who was the man in the middle of it all? drogba.

Forget Lampard, forget Cole. The man who made things happen for Chelsea was Didier Drogba.

I hate his face, I hate his diving, but he is one of the best strikers in the world. Jose Mourinho knew who he was buying.

I used to absolutely despise Drogba, but now I just hate him

Seriously, he is ability wise one of the best centre-forwards in World football. But until he drops the constant diving, moaning, fighting and cheating, he'll never be a top centre-forward imo.

But, saying that, I don't know if Chelsea will be able to get somebody as good as him into the club.

I won't miss him.
