it seems to be the going rate for all the top players in the premier league and he is certainly one of arsenals best players .
the problem is arsenal have always had a tight pay structure so his chances are pretty remote of getting that much

to be fair arsenal pay players less than going rate and he was second top scorer in league last year so what he is on in comparison to a drogba/rooney is a pittance .

he is doing what any of us would in highlighting he could get far more elsewhere .

arsenal seem to have a lot going for them other than wages or why would the likes of fabregas be happy - being in london is a big draw for many players

I'm staying at Arsenal - Adebayor
By Phil Gordos
BBC Sport in Vienna

Adebayor had been targeted by AC Milan and Barcelona
Emmanuel Adebayor has ended speculation about his immediate future by announcing he is staying at Arsenal.

The Togo striker, who scored 30 goals in 48 games for Arsenal last season, has been a target for both Italian side AC Milan and Catalan club Barcelona.

But the 24-year-old said in Vienna: "I am an Arsenal player and have three years left on my contract.

"The most important thing for me is to keep on enjoying my football. I'm staying at Arsenal."

AC Milan, who signed Mathieu Flamini from the Gunners in May, had previously announced that Adebayor was their only other target this summer. 606: DEBATE
Glad to see he's finally come out and killed this needless speculation off

Steve357
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has also been in Austria for the European Championship, but has not spoken to Adebayor about the player's future.

Should talks ever take place over a move, the former Monaco striker insisted money would not be a factor.

"When I was young I had a dream to be a good footballer and play for a big team," said Adebayor, who was in Vienna with his sponsors.

"I was born in Togo so I never cared about playing for money, my happiness was to play to enjoy myself. That's what I've been doing until now.

"You can see people changing clubs because of money, because they want a change of atmosphere or to get their names in the big leagues. I just play football to enjoy myself. I play because I love it."

Full respect to the man. He plays for the love of the game, not the money.

Adebayor adds to confusion

Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor has given conflicting messages over his future as he pledged to stay with the club at midday, before just over an hour later, in an interview with Sky Sports News, conceding he could yet still sign for Milan.

The assembled press must have thought Adebayor was set for a stay at Emirates Stadium after his press conference, but when quizzed later on whether there was any chance of a move to Milan he replied: "Nothing has been decided yet. We will decide next week."

Togo international Adebayor has been the subject of fevered speculation all summer, with Milan having declared their interest in bringing him to Italy.

Arsenal have remained tight-lipped on the player's future but now Adebayor has come out to comment on his situation in North London; albeit with sentiments that will likely confuse all parties.

On Thursday, super agent Vincenzo Morabito stated that the forward was '80 per cent certain' of joining Milan but this prediction appeared to be somewhat ill-founded, at least when Adebayor spoke at a press conference.

He said: "I have three more years with Arsenal, I have a good team there, I have a good contract.

"The most important thing is to keep enjoying myself. Of course (I am staying) I have three more years.

United front

"You can see people changing clubs because of money, because they want a change of atmosphere or to get their names in the big leagues. I just play football to enjoy myself. I play because I love it.

"We all have the same ideas and we all want to achieve something. We have a good boss which is Arsene Wenger, he tries to bring this atmosphere to the dressing room where we feel like brothers and like family.

"Those are the reasons that give us a chance to play the football we play. We play good football, now we look forward to winning trophies."

Ambiguity

Adebayor's comments would likely have been well received in the capital but later, in a one-on-one interview with Sky Sports, the player was considerably more ambiguous with regards his future.

"I am a footballer, I have a three-year contract at Arsenal but as you know, a lot of clubs are interested in me," he told Sky Sports News.

"At the moment we are just going to sit down and talk and decide what to do.

"Nothing has been decided yet. We will decide next week."

I found that funny.

He said he was staying, then less than an hour later, he says he might leave!

Poor Arsenal
