Zico open to Magpies post

Brazil legend Zico has revealed he would be interested in succeeding Kevin Keegan as Newcastle United manager.

The Magpies are currently on the look out for a new man to take charge of first-team affairs following Keegan's shock resignation last week.

A number of big names have been linked with the St James' Park hot-seat and now former Japan and Fenerbahce boss Zico has joined that list.

One of the alleged reasons behind Keegan's departure was the club's use of a director of football but Zico, who made 88 appearances for Brazil, has no qualms with the North East side's structure.
Honour

"The Newcastle job is one that I would be very interested in taking. It would be a privilege and an honour," he told the Daily Mail.

"I've always wanted to experience the Premier League as I believe I could enjoy much success coaching in England.

"I am used to working alongside technical directors so this isn't an issue for me. It's normal for me to work in those conditions."

zico is a true legend one of the greatest players that ever lived...would love to see the guy in english football, but if he has any sense avoid the toon....how quick from living legend to living hell??

if he does go there tho maybe bring in socrates as physio and club doctor?? his chain smoking was legendary so should fit in with the general geordie ideas of a healthy lifestyle

He led Japan and Fenerbahce well. Perhaps he can continue his legend in St. James' Park!

Hes seems to be quite a good manager.

Hes done a good job at Japan and Fenerbache, though I don't know much else about him.

It would be good to see him and his style of football in England.

If he goes to Newcastle, its debatable if his head is right, but I won't hold it against him.
