Man seriously injured at Stoke City football match
BBC News - Man seriously injured at Stoke City football match
A man has been arrested after a Blackburn Rovers fan was found unconscious with a head injury during a game at Stoke City's ground.
Apparently hit on the head by a bin thrown by a fellow Blackburn fan, hope he makes a full recovery.

Few of my mates went to the game and said they just heard of a disturbance just as the 2nd half was kicking off. Apparently he got hit by a bin but there not sure what happened exactly but police are investigating. Police say no Stoke City fans were involved.
Such a shame may his soul rest in peace.

it was probably one of those metal bins that are on the concourse of most grounds, and it was being thrown around.
just like united fans did when we played there. could easy have been one of our own.
sad to hear that he died, thoughts to his family and friends.

Well what I heard off a few friends with rovers losing at half time and the bar had shut tempers were already starting to flair a bit. Then they started throwing bottles round apparently in good spirits and then obviously the bin was thrown and hit the man on the head. So at this moment they don't know if it was purpose or accidental. A few Rovers fans are starting to get a bit suspicious of the amount of trouble they have seen this season and they are blaming the cheap ticket prices allowing other fans to watch the game ( Example people who got a banning order from one club and are able to buy a ticket for another club just too cause trouble cause thats what some people are there for ) . Like at the Villa away game in the carling cup semi final my mates uncle got bottled and required urgent skin graph treatment just outside the coaches by an apparent rovers fan. Who was from Preston just like this man who has been arrested in connection due to this incident yeah there a good a number of Preston based rovers fans but suspicions are starting to arise but story's are also going round that there is friction between rival gangs from Blackburn, Darwen and Chorley area. But I'm sure the investigation will give the true story as the concourse will have CCTV and they bring the culprit involved to justice.
For exiting the ground all the Rovers fans had to be lead onto the pitch after the full time whistle and lead out of another exit as the entrance they came through was cordoned off by the police.
