It was like the Wigan/Liverpool game when Gerrard gave the referee the finger. The newspapers reported the finger and how Gerrard 'got away with it' but I didn't see anybody in the media criticise him for actually doing it in the first place. Ashley Cole turned his back on a referee once and got slaughtered, bad, but not as bad as giving the ref the finger, especially given this supposed "Respect" campaign towards refs. I remember thinking that If Rooney had done that it'd be all over the back pages about how he has 'no respect' and how he's 'totally out of control'.

Anyway, maybe it's all just frustration coming to the surface that the Scousers have come up even more woefully short in the quest for the title than usual this year.

It's referee Stuart Attwell who is at fault here. He will have been asked whether he saw the incident clearly at the time or wanted to review video footage. It sounds like he said he saw it clearly at the time and didn't think it warranted a booking or sending off.

The FA's hands are tied because the referee's decision is final, as it should be.

I dont agree with the police getting involved, but i do think its bad of the FA to clear him yet again especially after what he did last week. It is a shame they don't use video replays for Gerrard yet they did with Rio something don't add up and i'm not a conspiracy theorist it just seems Gerrard is untouchable.

I don't think there is a premier league football who could fracture a skull or cheekbone if they thad 10 free shots. What Rio did was wrong, he deserved his ban and that sort of thing happens in sport. I can't imagine it would even hurt.

What Gerrard did was in a really dangerous area. I'd far rather take Cantona kung fu kick or a Duncan Ferguson head butt than take that elbow.

You have to draw the line somewhere, Gerrard is a violent guy and he's getting away with it. Someone needs to sort it.
