    Higuain Watch

I hate Madrid but like a certain striker who plays up front for them, he goes by the name Gonzalo Higuain.
I've noticed that quite a few members on here rate him as well, he is proving to be a top class striker.
At the start of the season everyone thought that the star of the Madrid team would be either Ronaldo, Kaka or even Benzema, well that hasn't been the case. Young Gonzalo has continued last season's impressive form and has already scored 13 goals in just 19 appearances, he has also provided 3 assists for his teammates. A top contribution, Ronaldo and him could very well be the reason why Barca don't win La Liga this season.

Anyway, I thought he deserved a thread, so post about his progress every week if you want.

Here is his latest finish in Real's 2-0 win against Mallorca.
    A top class finish.

I don't watch much of Real Madrid but since Madridista pointed out his partnership with C [dot]
I've noticed it as well and they do combine quite excellently.

Apart from his obvious eye for goal he has exceptional link up play, which you won't find
    on youtube.

I think he's the real deal. He deserves more Argentina caps. The last 18 months must have made Maradona sit up and take notice.

More worrying still has been the omission of Cambiasso, inconceivable.

Cambiasso is a cracking little player, one of the best DM's out there.
Madridista is of the opinion that he was one of Madrid's worst ever players, but I disagree, he just wasn't given enough time to settle in.

Made me laugh when I was reading a massives forum before and the bitters were saying things like 'oh I wouldn't mind Higuain but I wouldn't swap him for Tevez', and 'good but not as good as Tevez'. Higuain is rapidly becoming one of the best strikers in the world

theres a reason why Higuain is picked to partner Messi in attacking and not Tevez isnt it?

LOL they had an excuse for that as well but can't remember what it was. I would love to have Higuain at United but it is never going to happen

This is the best thing about Higuain, he can play with any type of player and everywhere on the pitch except in defence. Ruud, Raul, Robinho, Huntelaar, Reyes, Ronaldo and even with Benz they showed great promise and understanding, Higuain is the type of player who'll fit in any team and any formation.

Works hard, two footed, superb long range shooting, moves a lot, great pace, can pass the ball, isn't selfish - last night was a prove of this, he was one-on-one with Auate and instead of put it in the net, he gave it on plate for Ron who was getting frustrated with his poor performance, Pellegrini looked livid and couldn't believe it I thought he was gonna substitute him if Kaka was fit.

PJ, Gago had a blinder despite not playing much in the last 6 months, just goes to show what a talent he is. I hope we never let him go as he is probably the most talented defensive midfielder around, we only have to get him to show it. Diarra is better player at the moment but potentially Gago is probably better, and he looks bigger with short hair.

On the basis of what he showed here, he is undoubtedly. He was extremely poor in Castilla and in the C Team[RM youth]. Cambiasso had plenty of chances and opportunities to make a case for himself.

He is the midfield version of Walter Samuel - limited beyond belief, and can only play in a slower tempo game where the opposition doesn't press the ball a lot. Players who aren't good on the ball and don't thrive under pressuer always flop in Spain, they come as golden ball winners and great reputation but once they start playing here the story is different.

Watching Cambiasso against Barsa reminded me of his days at Madrid, he gets lost once they put pressure on him and doesn't know what to do with the ball. Was he substituted in the break? Never been a top player, never will be, a level below to any of our defensive midfielders.

I think Cambiasso is a top defensive midfielder. I think he would do well playing against Madrid for an Italian team.

His greatest strength was never his speed. It's his tactical knowledge & his positioning. He knows he's slow.

However he always positions himself i the rihgt place and breaks up attacks well.

Back on topic Higuain is a fantastic striker. I think if Madrid are looking for a partner for him Zarate would do very well at Madrid.

I've been a huge fan of hat guy since his 1st season at Lazio.

I've been impressed with him ever since that loan spell he had at Birmingham.

Well he might have been bad or average in the past but he is a quality player now.
The pressure from Barca's front 6 would put any player off their game, they hunt you down in packs and make life very difficult. He's not world class, a solid player though.

Considering our style of play is based on pressure and ball robbing, and we're the team that most pressure the opposition and robs the ball in Europe, Cambiasso is exactly the type of player who will struggle against us. When you are under pressure and you need somebody to bring the ball out, the last thing on earth you'd want is, Cambiasso to be around.

I don't think pace is a must for centre halves, the best of them were never blessed with great pace.

He needs about an hour to set his brains going and when pressured is all over the park. I've Inter supporting mate and he reckons Cambiasso is the most over rated player in Italy and is nothing special. He has something like 10 assists in his entire career, in football not everything is about destroying, it may work on certain occasions against the likes of Cremonese and Puteolana, but once up against the big boys he always takes a hiding. And let's be honest, if it wasn't for the calciopoli scandal to weaken Italian football he would've won nothing as Inter are nothing special and him being an integral part of their team is one of the reasons for it

I honestly don't think he is anything special.

We won't sign another forward until we have a clear view on where Benzema stands in the team. He would have at least couple of years to establish himself in the team and until then, the only possible forward coming to Madrid is Negredo.

We currently have 5 forwards, Ruud will definitely leave us in the near future, so that leaves us with Raul, Ronaldo, Benz and Higuain, the last three are our future with Raul also playing some minor role in the team. From Castilla there aren't any good young forwards who can make an immediate impact in the first team, just couple of highly rated under 18 youths.

Today Segio Canales' father will meet with our board in Madrid to negotiate a future transfer, he is seen as the successor of Raul, and it will probably be the last forward signed for many a year, and we don't need another forward anyway. We actually don't need any player, I believe our team is complete and all we need now is time to gel and improve just little bit in certain aspects.

Higuain is injured and will be out until the end of the month, so Benz would have more minutes on the pitch and an opportunity to speed up his integration into the team.

The birth of Higuain, a special goal on a special day, and seeing such a legend like Ruud holding Higuain's shirt up in front of the fans you knew he will be something special one day.

It's not only the front six - whatever that means, the key for their pressing are Abidal and Alves, both support the midfield non-stop and rob a lot of balls, the latter has a free role and is a defender which is quite indicative how important he is for their tactic.

Another world class Argentinian scores tonight. Messi, Milito and Higuain are in the form of their lives. Argentina might have a chance of winning The World Cup, though I highly doubt it as they have an average manager.
