I have wanted to buy this game for my PS2 for ages, but it is very difficult to find as it is very rare indeed. Well I finally managed to get my hands on it, and it has more than lived up to what I expected. This is the basic story of the game:
The world has become massively overpopulated. The rapidly expanding network society has been crippled by rising crime rates and is on the verge of meltdown.
A new system, 'Project-K' has been created in an attempt to resolve the situation. At the core of the system is an artificial intelligence centre named 'Eden'.
Eden has more advanced A.I. than any machine that has ever previously existed. It has the ability to process vast amounts of information at once, and to use that information to form its own uniquely advanced independant thoughts. Some would say that Eden has even developed a degree of concience.
However, Eden became confused when the flow of information being sent to it began to greatly increase in speed and volume. It started to question the meaning of its existence and the consequences of its actions. Finding itself surrounded by paradoxes, and realising the power of autonomy which it possessed, Eden began to shut itself down.
You have to travel into the cyberspace of the 'Project-K' network on a mission to reawaken Eden. You must gain access to each area and layer of the system destroying any viruses and firewalls you encounter.
At its heart this is a traditional on rails shooter, but with a unique twist. There is a big emphasis on the music in REZ. As a result of shooting down enemies, you enhance the excellent background music with added effects. The graphics are absolutely superb, the design and artwork are amazing and unlike anything else you will have seen before. From a technical standpoint the graphics are not the best you will ever see, but they are still one of thr major bonuses of this game. The one criticism I have is that it is a very short game, a few more levels would of made this game perfect. But I still enjoy playing the same levels again, to enjoy the great music and super graphics.
