Whatever, but there will NOT be a playoff.

Its all stupid speculation after Grant claimed there should be one.......pfft!

There won't THIS season, as we are vastly infront on both GD ans GS.

It's far to easy to say WHATEVER when you're down. I'll admit defeat. I have. I thought it was H2H after GD then GS, but clearly (from the source I've found) its not.

there is, 3 points for a win. It was changed a long time ago. from 2 points, to encourage more attacking play. Maybe it is time to amend rules again, For Every 4 Goals scored in one game, a BONUS point. United would have picked up bonus points to have already won the league.

4 goals is too easy for something as decisive as an extra point but I like where you're going.

An extra point should be available for something like an absolute mauling. Score 6 goals or more and get a bonus point.

Aston Villa and Tottenham would be happy.

I didn't come down to goal difference at the top after all, I did at the bottom. For the second successive season a team got relegated on goal difference. I think the Italian system is the best, better than goal difference or the Spanish system of head-to-head. I would like to see it introduced in the Premier League.

To finish top of a league containing 38 games spread from August-May..A team needs to be consistent. GD may be a crude way of measuring this consistency but at least it covers all 38 games where as a head to head only covers 2, and a playoff 1 game. Like already said in this thread, GD also encourages attacking play and flowing football so i think this is the best tool for use after points to be honest.
If in the case that United and Chelsea finish on identical points, but we have a far superior GD, IMO that means we merit the title as we have either won games by bigger margins or won more games by lesser margins, either way..better.
