Owen Hargreaves better come back strong next season...

...Because that may have been the worst midfield performance in CL final history.

Anderson, Carrick, Giggs, Park were all absolutely terrible. They've been inconsistent all season too.

Carrick is the most overrated player on this team. He's a scrub - Exposed today at an elite level.

P.S - Any chance of a username change?

They bossed us in midfield. Without a doubt, midfield is our weakest area. Our midfield might be enough for smaller teams. But superior players like Xavi and Iniesta showed the true level of our midfield. Average.

To be fair, our midfield was shocking and deserves to be criticized.

    No, I'm a realist.

Don't question my love for this team you arrogant prick. Accept that we were simply destroyed in the middle of the park today and hope that we address it in the summer or hope Hargraves makes a big impact.

I like Hargreaves, I do think he'll make a big difference. Fletcher too should be nice to have back.

We lacked steel big time, nobody was there to close anyone down. They had as much time on the ball as they wanted, and it suited those Catalan pricks down to the ground.

    Yup.

That's my problem with Carrick. He's a neat and tidy footballer who will keep possession but he can't make the game changing pass against elite teams (which he kept trying to ******* do today) and he simply doesn't get after players in midfield enough. He doesn't have the aggression that a great central midfielder needs.

Did anyone see Iniesta running circles around Giggs? It nearly brought tears to my eyes. Painful!

    I KNOW we were outplayed.

    Have you read my username?

I'm confident in Anderson anymore, I was last season when he showed flashes but he's not lived up to the hype and has dissapointed. I'm not giving up on him at all, I'm just not confident he's going to be a great player anymore, hence I want a new username.

Where the **** did I lose all hope in this team? This thread was started showing where my hope in this team lies you tard! In Owen Hargreaves making a big impact!

Due to injuries, yes. He can play well there too.

He's a very good, in your face midfielder who wouldn't have allowed Andres Iniesta to glide right past him without at least forcing some effort. (As opposed to Anderson/Carrick/Giggs)

I think he'll be a huge gain for this team next season. I'm looking forward to his return. Hopefully he can stay healthy.

Really? Our midfield is atrocious? I am not sure that anyone would have argued that it was that great to begin with our the strength of our teams, but we did come up against the strongest pair of midfielders in the world today, and we had a shot of winning....

(What I meant to say was)
HOLY SHIT THE SKY IS FALLING!!!

We missed the type of players like Owen Hargreaves and Fletcher tonight.

You're exaggerating a bit, with the WORST midfield performance in CL history though.
We were outclassed tonight by Xavi and Iniesta - 2 of the best midfield players in the world.

It was far from the worst performance in history.

Hell even Barcelona were beaten 4-0 in a final once (by Milan - Guardiola played aswell).

You have to take into account the opposition. Our performance against Porto at home was far worse.

Did this remind anyone of the game against milan a couple of years ago? to think we would have learned our lesson about playing such a soft midfield like we did today.

    That's funny, and pathetic.

The midfield was our weakest area in the whole 90 minutes and I agree with that. Also, when the midfield is suffering then everyone else will, because the midfield either makes it or break it for the team.

But you so chose the wrong words, it's laughable mate.

Park didn't even start the match in the midfield, so take him out of your argument.
Anderson made wonders against other teams this season, especially lately. Carrick has one of the best eyes for goal, his passing is excellent and you don't find many players with the same composure as his. I can't see where you are seeing him as an over rated player, he hardly gets mentioned in the media and is not one of the fans favourite players, neihter. Giggs, the most decorated player in the Premiership. He has been a regular this season, you can hardly say he has been inconsistent too.

It's funny, because most probably you were one of those who praised the boys match after match, win after win in the Premier League. We would have never won the league with an inconsistent midfield, take that out off your mind.
