Sir Alex Ferguson, without him many talents wouldn't have been recognized, and our history wouldn't have been as decorated.

Sir Alex. He's simply not comparable to the others mentioned in terms of what he's acheived and what he's brought to the club.

Manager = Sir Alex Ferguson
Greatest Player = (I would have said Ronaldo, but IMO he has not been at United long enough to be the greatest United player) so for me it's Ryan Giggs.

Sir Matt Busby without him we wouldn't be the club we are today. Same could be said from SAF but Busby came before him and if he never arrived SAF might never have had the chance.

I think it's far too hard and harsh to pick one name really, and Sir Alex, Bobby Charlton, Ryan Giggs should also be mentioned as well as others.

Talent - Best
Overall contribution - Sir Bobby Charlton
Impact - Cantona
Best manager - Sir Matt Busby.
Greatest: Charlton.
Edwards is the wild card. We know he would have been up there with the best, but we don't have proof.
For me Giggs is a step below Charlton. They played a similar amount of games (Charlton started more), and while Giggs has won more, Charlton is the face of the club as he has been through so much. He was also one of the best players of all time. Giggs was never the main man.

I'm going to put a slightly different spin on this thread if you don't mind - the 10 most important men in the history of United:
1. SAF
2. Matt Busby
3. Bobby Charlton
4. James Gibson
5. Eric Cantona
6. George Best
7. Ryan Giggs
8. Roy Keane
9. Denis Law
10. Peter Schmeichel
The game is all about opinions, and no doubt thousands will disagree with mine.
