i think he's a pretty good signing , he's not world class but still a pretty good adition . From what i've seen he's pretty good dribbler of the ball and puts decent crosses in , and he's also got pretty good work rate . However i don't think he'll get the number 7 , that will probably be reserved for benzema if we get him ( and i have a feeling we will ) . Let's hope he can do well for us and help fill the void that ronaldo's departure has created .

Valencia is known for being a hard worker, so hopefully with him tracking back this can help the defence go to an even higher standard, the amount of times Ronaldo left o'shea, rafael and Nev exposed last season was unreal, by ronaldo not tracking back this bought Rooney out of position and even berbs!

im looking forward to rooney attacking defences again and not covering a winger or full back for over half a match!! also looking forward to Rafael and Valencia getting a good relationship and watching the types of runs forward neville and becks use to make!!!

hopefully this will see berbs, rooney and a new potential signing scoring a bag full of goals!!! (hopefully Benzema or Fabiano)...... said on sky sports news this morning a Benzema deal is nearer???

I think it's going to be excitint to go back to slightly older ways and getting more people in to the box with the likes of Valencia crossing it in, hopefully Berbatov will be pushed up by Fergie and then we'll have some more aerial prowess, the likes of Benzema (who looks like he could be on his way) isn't too shabby in the air either!

    So far so good...

Valencia a real gem - Manchester United - Football - Sport - Manchester Evening News

FORMER United defender Steve Bruce reckons Sir Alex Ferguson has added another gem to United's diamond collection with Antonio Valencia.

The 23-year-old Ecuadorian completed his £16m move to Old Trafford from Wigan on Tuesday hoping to go some way to filling Cristiano Ronaldo's boots.

"Antonio is a diamond of a kid. A real top, top boy," new Sunderland manager Bruce told M.E.N. Sport.

"He is a wonderful player and I cannot speak highly enough of him."

Valencia, who scored three goals for Wigan last season, is expected to help fill the void left by Ronaldo following the star winger's £80m move to Real Madrid.

And Bruce, who inherited Valencia when he became Wigan boss in November 2007, has little doubt that the winger will cope on the bigger stage.

"It is unfair for anyone to make comparisons with Ronaldo. For anyone having to endure that it would be struggle.

"Forget the Ronaldo's heir business and let the fans and United team-mates judge him as a player in his own right.

"If they do that they won't be disappointed. Certainly his new colleagues would be delighted with him because he is a team player.

"For me he is the complete player. He is prepared to track back and do the leg work. He is big and powerful and let me tell you he is a real tough cookie.

"Nobody will knock Antonio off the ball. He's very hard. He has got terrific strength and certainly not a shrinking violet.

"How many wingers can you say that about?

    Explosive

"He is wonderfully quick as well. Excellent and explosive off the mark.

"There aren't many wingers like him around these days. If I could give United fans a picture of what they could be buying then I'd say he is not unlike my former team-mate in the early 90s, Andrei Kanchelskis.

"Andrei was quick, strong and able to steam past a defender. Antonio is very similar.

"His stats at Wigan were phenomenal. He ran further than anyone else, worked harder than anyone else and did all that at pace. It was tremendous.

"Any United fan who remembers the Wigan match at Old Trafford in January when United won 1-0, Valencia was superb that game.

"I think that was the deciding night for Sir Alex Ferguson. I think he had him watched every game after that.

"Valencia wasn't dragged down by the stage that night but will he sustain it in a United shirt? I think he can handle it because he is a strong and great character," added Bruce. "I think he'll flourish on the big stage.

"He will improve and become a better player playing with the calibre of player he'll be alongside at Old Trafford."

Valencia will certainly have to up his goal-scoring game if he is going to make inroads into helping to make up for the loss of Ronaldo's output. "He will never be a Cristiano Ronaldo and scoring is the one area he really does have to improve," said Bruce.

"But where is there another winger like Ronaldo who scores that many goals? Normally you are looking for your wide players to contribute double figures and I think if he becomes a little bit more selfish then Antonio can supply that amount."

The decision of the shirt numbers could be a big one, does SAF give it to the new signing and make him believe even more that he can become a united great? By doing that he could make nani feel less involved etc, and then nani could start getting stroppy. I think the valencia deal is a great one. Fergie wouldnt go higher than 40mil for a player and some of the prices being branded out by papers these days is pathetic. Of corse ronaldo wont get replaced, no-one can do that job. Valencia will bring something different to the team and i think he weill give rooney the ammo he needs to fire 25+ goals next season. Bring on the champs league again!

Anyone who played fantasy football last year check Valencias goals and assists. From December 26th till the end of the season played 15 full games. He did not get one goal or assist. I was going on about how overrated he was last year and now we have bought him. From the best player in the world to him is a major step down. We will be lucky to finish in the top 4 at this rate. Apart from Rooney and Berbatov, there is no one in the squad that will get more than 5 goals.

Nice to you're being positive mate
Oh and Fantasy Football is something we should all base our opinions on without actually watching people play. That and Football Manager, maybe the odd video on youtube is ok too. It's nice to read these well informed opinions from people

    How emberrasing.

Hoow many assists did Anderson get?
    Does that make him shit?

For your info Michael Carrick hardly gets assists and goals either, yet is so influential and important to our team. A lot of attacking moves that result in goals, start with a ball won by anderson or a beautiful pass by Michael Carrick.

If we judge them by your meassure, they would both be shit.
