He was excellent tonight. We've not had an exciting winger like him for a while. Ronaldo used to be like that but he became a lot more direct and didn't really play as a winger. He'd very rarely get to the by line and whip a cross in, so I'm looking forward to some good old fashioned wing play this season because I think it's something we've lacked in recent seasons. He was going past players for fun tonight. He looks like he's going to be a top quality player for us.

MOTM tonight, absolutely faultless in all of his play. I think fergie may have pulled off a master stroke with valencia.

can we keep our feet on the ground. played well tonight but dont wanna place too much expectation on the lad. Having him down as sorted for replacement to the World Player of the Year is all well and good but we all know one bad game and this forum turns on you like a pack of wolves.

Vidic vs Liverpool - my case in point.

Lets enjoy his debut and hope its a sign of the potential to come from the lad.

Valencia was more than just good yesterday,he was very very good.He put in some nice crosses and played with plenty of power.Bloody hell his first 5 yards is outta this world!,Tremendous change of pace and and hit it low and hard.Valencia' not really known for any predictable form of play,For Ecuador he plays a more central role sometimes,so he's moer than accustomed to playing it inside. The guy knows he can outpace or destabilize defenders and play a good ball, which is why he goes outside, but when faced with no other means he will cut inside like he's done with Ecuador and Wigan many a time. There was a period last year when he and Wilson palacios looked unbelievable.it was during that time i got a glimpse of the what this guy is all abt. He's built like a brickhouse! has got a lot of pace.Thats a combination that worked for a certain Ronaldo. But Valencia Tackles as well,I was watching ESPN and his tacking stats were amazing..7 out of 8 tackes were a 100% sucess or somthing along those lines, thats as good as it gets for a winger,Funnily enough he's like a mysterious blend of the two players we lost,He has genuine talent like Ronaldo did and works hard like tevez did.Interesting to see how that works out
Umm i said he was impressive in his debut...a very good debut indeed, i have no arguements. BUT he did remind me alot of lennon AND walcott. Lennon im not a big fan of but he is not useless and he has a similar style to valencia where he always seems to go to the outside. Whenever he had a chance today to cut inside, he always went back to the outside. And i compared him to walcott because of his acceleration which is brilliant. Like theo, he also hits the ball ahead of him and then gets past players which his acceleration which is great to watch. And yes he is built like a brick and unlike lennon can cross a ball. BUT his style of play thus far reminded me so much of lennon and walcott and i see no reason after seeing more of him to change that opinion.

Hopefully he'll be a success at united, he has got off the ground running.

    pz!

He's definitely done even more than I'd hoped for. Exceeded my expectations across the board.

I thought he was excellent the initial signs are good and he seems to have settled very quickly , i was impressed with his combination on the right with delaet , that lad looked very good his level of performance since joining us has gone up tenfold , he could make the loss of brown and raphael look small

We will see on sunday just how good he is when he comes up against cashley cole , ronaldo seldom got the better of him, it would be great if valencia could teach him a lesson as i hate him

He's what weve been missing in a way, ronaldo was never really an old school winger, he cut in all the time and shot which isn't a bad thing as he scored alot too, but i feel valencia will help our strikers to get more goals.

I have been impressed with him so far.

But of course, it is just pre-season and we can't get ahead of ourselves yet.

As SAF said, he isn't a replacement for Ron, as nobody can replace him. What he is though is another winger, with outstanding pace, who can whip a good ball in. That is what we need. Owen is going to thrive with him.

I've been impressed with him in the two games he's played.

Very quick and direct, not afraid to take his man on and knows how to pick out a cross. If he could add goals to his game - which Fergie said he hopes to improve, he could be one of the best wingers in the country. I'd put him up there with Joe Cole already in fact. And in this summer's market, at 16/17 million it wasn't a bad deal at all.

As I said earlier, with his direct approach taking his man on, he'll win us plenty of free kicks in dangerous areas, and since he's on the right, Anderson will have plenty of opportunities to shoot from them. I can see him getting plenty of assists next season and becoming a fans' favourite.

Valencia made me laugh, I think he expects to get the ball every time we get possession because he did at Wigan. There was a moment against Valencia where he just stood in front of Rooney and got in his way because he wanted the ball so much.

Fitted in well. Will balance the team more than ronaldo. Will probably get more assists than goals, judging by his orthodox style.

Just want to grive some credit to you goonerkas, you're one of the very few decent posters which support rival clubs on here, most of them e.g bezz and mancunian, are just wums. I could say something derogatory about City now e.g this shows Arsenal have more class, but I won't mention that.
