    Boring football

The current injury crisis and form aside...is there anyone else who agrees with me that we've become pretty boring to watch from a strictly entertainment standpoint? Even our big wins this season haven't seen the type of stylish play that saw us win the CL in 08. What happened? Was Ronaldo our only player who raised the entertainment value? Whenever we see a midfield lineup consisting of Carrick, Fletcher and Scholes with Rooney upfront in a 4-5-1 we know not to expect sparks. I used to get really excited to see Rooney and Ronaldo tear defences apart with style and speed...these days i'd say Evra is probably our most exciting player to watch and while Giggs can still turn up the style we just not playing exciting football anymore...

    It's simple math:

United + Ronaldo = entertaining football.

United - Ronaldo = boring football.

I wouldn't say it's that simple. With Ronaldo in 2006-07, and 2007-08, we
were playing our best football. Last season, still with Ronaldo, we weren't
playing as well as we did in previous seasons. I'd attribute that to the loss
of Queiroz. The loss of Ronaldo does affect our play, however not to the
    extent that's being talked about.

It's just happened so quickly from the height of that 2008 squad. I have a friend who thinks the style went out with Quieroz too. I hope Phelan is not just a yes man but he certainly doesn't seem to have the same weight the Portuguese guy did

Too bad we didn't get to see Rooney + Ronaldo + Berbatov in top form

We did. It's a shame that Berbatov and top form is quite sub-standard.

    Woah, talk about simplifying it!

That's simply NOT true. Since when were we Cristiano Ronaldo FC? Yes, he was our best player - but he's one of the top 2 players in the world - he'd be the best player of any team, except the team with Messi in. We're still a great team, full-strength and everyone in form, without him. We haven't been at our best for periods of this season, but we weren't last season either with Ronaldo in the team.

Come off it, another doom and gloom post that's simply not true. I'm disappointed with Berbatov at the moment, but you can't deny that his top form is excellent. He's an extremely talented footballer. Just wish we could see more of it.

A lot of our players aren't in form at the moment, there's no need to make scapegoats.

I thought we played fabulously attacking and entertaining football in 06-07 and 07-08.

But as last season progressed I thought we became extremely one dimensional - everything revolved around getting the ball to cr to the point where we eventually completely changed our formation and style to support it.

I didn't find that particularly entertaining at all.

Abojodeh & Stephen, obviously have a dislike for Berbatov so their views on him are pretty Biased. Even though Berbatov's been better than Rooney so far this season they'll still use Berbatov as their scapegoat. Yet Abo will go on to defend Nani, Hes also been better than Owen. Back to the Op's question, as seen last year I do not think Ronaldo's the answers, he doesn't dictate our style of football. Since Carlos queiroz has left our football hasn't been the same.

Completely agree. This lad will hopefully be something special. His speed is phenomenal, just his final product lacking, which was exactly the same with Ronaldo when he joined. He's young like Ronaldo, he's a winger like Ronaldo, he joined straight after Ronaldo, he showboats like Ronaldo, he has confidence like Ronaldo, speed like Ronaldo.
