    Edwin van der Sar appreciation

Do you remember the painful days of wondering whether it'll Carroll or Howard in goal? Going out in UCL group stages? Difficult times.

I'd say a large amount of our success in the last 3 seasons has been because of Van der Sar, an absolutely outstanding keeper who doesn't seem to get that much recognition on MUT. Amazing to think he's been here since 2005 for only £2m. What an aboslutely class bit of business that was. If only we had signed him earlier. I don't care if he is 39 years old, he is as good as ever and still one of the best in the league. A league full of exceptionally talented keeprs. I see no signs of his form dipping as he ages either. I definitely want him to stay as long as he can play. For me he on par with Schmiechel.

I also admire his professionalism, he's always first to calm a situation down or talk sense to a player when he is having a bit of a dodgy moment. He's going to be seriously tough to replace once he's gone, which unfortunately is probably round the corner now.

    What a legened!

One of the best in the world for the past 20 years.
Cant believe he spent 4 seasons in a team like Fulham.
I've always admired him, and hope this is not his last season with United.

We'll be damn hard pressed to find anyone even close to as good as him in a few years

then we'll all whine etc etc

i can see the whines coming now when VDS is gone

If we get one of Akinfeev, Nueur or Lloris we'll be set for years, I really hope we make a move for one of them soon

Yeah, and hopefully we will learn from the last mistake with Schmeichel where we didnt go for VDS as soon as he was available, i'd be well sorted if we got any of those 3 you mensioned.

Edwin deserves to have legend status, easily one of the best keepers we've ever had.
Whatever his decision at the end of the season, I respect him as one of the Utd greats.

I dont think we should talk about replacement keepers in this thread, we sure purely and only talk about the legend that is Edwin Van Der Sar.

Hes been a fantastic keeper since signing for us, its always felt nice having him behind the back four, hes a steady hand and head plus he knows when to have ago at the defenders. He must also be created for the clean sheets he had last season, Many people credit the back four and rightly so but you still have to say that VDS was very very fundamental to that record.

Whatever he does at the end of the season im sure the United Faithful will give him the send off he deserves.

Not before long we will go thru that again Im sure infact we already has.

I never thought that after Schemeichel (sp) we would get to see anyone close enough to what he can offer. The day VDS score us a goal is the day that I will regard him up there alongside the great dane but he no doubt is our second best keeper that Ive seen play for us.

Aye Schmiechel did score two if i'm right?

His pen save against Anelka puts him in legendary status already for me!
