The formation has nothing to do with who's better. The formation has more to do with what the manager wants the team to do out there. Today for example there was no need to put Park inside someone's pants like he wanted to do on Pirlo to cut him down. WIth a team who defends with more the six players like Milan did you need more fire power upfront so every defender have one or more guys to pick up. Fulham have higher work rate then Milan as well and playing two upfront gives more opportunities then playing with just one, even if that one is Wayne Rooney. To sum it up its not the formation that makes the difference but what you do with it.
