Good game, we needed a high scoring game to keep the fire going! The westham goal was only because the striker was able to use his hands all over rio.one more to go and we retain what is ours!

Goal.com

Player Ratings: Manchester United 4-1 West Ham

MANCHESTER UNITED

Edwin Van der Sar: 6.5 – Not his greatest game, the Dutchman looked shaky at times, but generally OK.

Owen Hargreaves: 7.5 - Great cross for second goal and did well defensively at right back again. Good energy saw him up and down the flank until the final whistle.

Wes Brown: 6 - Lucky to escape a handball appeal in the first half and failed to clear the ball for Ashton’s goal. Did better in the second half but not a patch on his midweek performance against Barcelona.

Rio Ferdinand: 7 - Might have done better against Ashton for his goal but otherwise another assured performance from the United captain.

Patrice Evra: 7 – His usual composed display although he had to curb his attacking displays after United went down to 10 men.

Michael Carrick: 7 - Scored with the help of a huge deflection and had an easy afternoon.

Paul Scholes: 7.5 – Very comfortable, strolled through the game and didn’t put a foot wrong.

Ji Sung Park: 6.5 - Busy and energetic as ever but with little end result. Bizarrely seems to play better in the Champions League than the Premier League. Lasted an hour before being replaced by Ryan Giggs.

Nani: 2 – Foolishly sent off in the first half for a, fairly soft it has to be said, head butt on Lucas Neill. Tried to get away with it by collapsing dramatically himself holding his face but thankfully the referee was having none of it.

Cristiano Ronaldo: 8.5 - It took him three minutes to get on the score sheet and another 20 to add his second as he racked up his 29th and 30th league goals of the season. Always looked a threat until Ferguson took opportunity to rest him after an hour.

Carlos Tevez: 8 – His wonderful shot made it three nil and the former Hammer didn’t stop chasing and harrying all afternoon.

Substitutions:

Ryan Giggs: 6 - An improvement on recent outings, set up Fletcher for shot which almost made it five for United.

Darren Fletcher: 6.5- Unlucky to see his shot come back off the post after a lovely move with Giggs.

John O’Shea: 6 - Came on to shore things up but barely broke into a sweat.

WEST HAM UNITED

Robert Green: 5 - Hesitant. Maybe should have done better for the first goal which beat him at his near post and could have come and claimed the second too.

John Pantsil: 5.5 - A busy afternoon with Park, Evra and Ronaldo all taking turns to fly down the left but coped OK and was prepared to offered a threat himself down the left.

James Tomkins: 4 - Only his fourth start and it showed. Dithered for second goal when he should have dealt with it.

Lucas Neill: 4 - An eventful afternoon for the defender. An unfortunate slip let in Ronaldo for opener and a deflection allowed Carrick to add United’s fourth. Made the most of Nani’s head but by collapsing dramatcially after a soft butt.

George McCartney: 3.5 - Should have closed Ronaldo down for the opener but didn’t and generally second best all afternoon. One to forget.

Mark Noble: 5 – Fairly anonymous in truth and completely overshadowed by Scholes and Carrick.

Scott Parker: 5.5 - Helped out his defence well at times which in all honesty needed all the help it could get.

Hayden Mullins: 5 – Gave United’s midfielders far too much space and wasn’t surprising to see him subbed.

Luis Boa Morte: 4 - Replaced due to injury after 50 minutes by Solano. Did very little in the 50 minutes he was on the pitch.

Dean Aston: 7.5 – Caused problems for Brown and Ferdinand and scored with a glorious overhead kick for the goal. Forced off injured, yet again, after 55 minutes.

Bobby Zamora: 6.5 - Did well in the air against the United defence and supplied the cross for Ashton’s goal. Had chances himself but couldn’t get on the scoresheet.

Substitutions:

Nolberto Solano: 6 - On for Boa Morte but couldn’t offer the attacking impetus his manager would have desired.

Carlton Cole: 5.5 – Replaced Ashton but didn’t cause the United defence the same problems his colleague had.

Freddie Sears: n/a A few bright touches but not enough time to make an impact

Great game. Tevez & Ronnie were great again today. Tevez's goal was quite awesome. I hope he breaks 20 Goals for the season.

I thought they got a little careless for a brief moment but thankfully, we dominated and finished them off. Fletcher was unlucky not to score.

I really wish i had been there. It'll be my goal to go to OT next season.
