my player ratings are

vds 7 Apart from that one shaky moment at the start when evra cleared, simply accomplished as we come to expect from the dutch master
hargo 7 top class player who has had a brilliant albeit injury blighted season. Mr reliable imo wherever he plays.
evra 8 magnificent yet again. If he keeps this up over the next few seasons he will be spoken of in the same breath as Irwin as united's greatest ever full back.
Rio 7 Tough afternoon against Ashton but stuck to his task well. goal was more Brown's fault for putting him into trouble but anyway the finish was just sublime
Wes 7 The goal notwithstanding still a composed display from the local lad.
Nani 5 The bloke obviously has a bit of growing up to do . The sending off just capped off a week where for all his obvious potential and self belief he needs to think of the team before he does childish things things like that headbutting an opponent or trying to score from 40 yrds when better options are on. Its also un-united to be unsportmanslike the way he tried to get Neill the red card.

Scholes 8 Different class in terms of keeping possesssion and passing range. A truly great player.
carrick 6.5 Although he got the decisive goal still not convinced. seems to lack confidence at th moment as even after scoring he chose the wrong option in passing a couple of times when he should have went for goal himself.
Park 7 typically industrious performance from the Korean.now first choice instead of giggs which surprised me but fully merited.
Ronaldo 8 apart from a few times when he tried to be too extravagant and gave the ball away cheaply he was excellent with the couple of goals expertly taken. now can we see a similar performance in moscow please.
Tevez 8.5 MY mom for his simply awesome performance.

Subs

Giggs 7 Thought he looked a lot sharper than he has done for a while perhaps because he knows he can no longer command a first team place even once a week. Then he has been under threat from sharpe/blomqvis among others and seen them all off. He knows he has to earn charlton's record so hopefully a return to form is in the offing.

O'Shea 6 ok apart from once stupid back pass that almost cost us

fletcher 6 not on very long but tidy and willing as ever

WHAT a game and WHAT an atmosphere. Thats by far the best atmosphere
Ive heard at a game. ALL the chants were being sung from 'We'll never die',
to 'Follow, follow to Moscow' to Ole's and Cantona's, 'calypso', 'United Road'
a whole host of them.

The first half was amazing, especially Tevez's goal and Ronnie's 1st.
Even Ashton's goal got clapped in the Stretty and it was some goal to be fair.

Tevez got a hero's ovation from the Hammers fans, which was nice to see.

Nani was a complete idiot......he has gone WAY down in my estimation now.
Disgraceful baheviour and he deserves to be banned.

The crowd got a bit nervy then and were apprehensive going into the 2nd half.
The sending off prevented any hope of a complete thrashing of West Ham,
but we made it safe with the Carrick goal to the lovely chant of '10 men We've
only got 10 men' a la 'Blue Moon'.

Back to the football and I thought Ronaldo and Tevez were magnificant.
Ronnie bagged his 40th goal of the season. I sat there in disbelief trying
to figure out how on earth he scored that many.

Tevez really put it about once again. I dont think there is a harder working
footballer in the Premiership. He chased lost causes and ended up winning
back possession. His goal was a corker and he deserved it.
I think even the West Ham fans smiled a bit after that bullet.

A special mention to Wes who was immense once again, though maybe at
fault on one occasion.
He cleared everything all afternoon long. I thought the back 4 were excellent.

And 'Ryan Giggs, Ryan Giggs running down the wing' WOW.
Great cameo and he showed he could still torment defences. He nearly made
2 goals with some excellent runs and passing. Great to see some life in the old
dog yet.

Scholes was masterful as usual but Id have slight concerns over Carrick's
recent form and of course Nani who was a disgrace.

All in all an excellent day, Fergie made a speech at the end of the game, the
players did the lap of honour saluting the fans, who were amazing today and
stayed behind. It was a lovely sunny day as well, which always makes things
better :-)

Apart from one moment of lunacy - and the subsequent 5-10 minutes - it was a thoroughly enjoyable and fantastically professional performance from the boys. I think I even relaxed for the last 30 minutes!

I was really worried about this game given a potential CL hangover and the recent performances against wh (perhaps some of you may have guessed from my recent posts). But I guess I shouldn't have been concerned. For a team that hasn't done much the easy way this season, that was easy!

The Tevez strike was unbelievable and I have to say that CR7 is showing more and more maturity with every match. I thought Wes Brown had a good game (other than the wh goal), hargo was great as was scholesy, park and evra.

Rio was a rock out there.

Hard to choose a motm, but I'd have to go with Tevez. As he showed against barca, his work rate is second to none. With wazza out, he has stepped up and given SAF a quandry for the CL final selection.

Viva Carlito!!!!!!!

It was certainly an action-packed 1st half!

The early goal was key because there was no time for the crowd or fans to get nervous and Tevez' thunderbolt proved vital because if it had been 2-1 and down to 10 men the game could have turned out very differently.

Stupid thing to do by Nani and he won't win many friends with his play acting afterwards but he's still just a kid and hopefully this experience will help him grow up.
