Same here but it was the pole behind the goal that holds the net up that the ball hit. Ronaldo put it well wide.

After the retaken penalty he slotted in against Arsenal I was very confident he would score and just sat there in disbelief for about 10 minutes after he missed.

Poor Peformance by us last night. We cudnt string 5 passes together and all i can remeber is us being pinnedback all the ime. We had 35% possession, WTF! its a joke in my opinion. But defensively, we were excellent, absolutley solid, Especailly Rio! Was probably the instructions given by Fergie by the looks of the comments from the players on skysports.com.

However, it was An okish result but we have to score in the next leg and gain a healthy lead to stop Barcelona from gaining an advantage via that stupid away goal rule.

i have now watched the game through again twice without emotion getting in the way .

here is what i saw .

a compressed 4-5-1 with the role of lone striker being alternated between ronaldo tevez park and rooney .

no area between mid 5 and back 4 for barca to effectively get in range .

a team more than happy to let barca have as much of the ball as they wanted knowing that they would struggle to do anything other than shoot from distance

the side had obviously been drilled to do exacttly that .

the usual ping ping passing went astray as the gap between players and lone forward often too large .

ronaldo did not have the shocker some are making out and on another day could have got 3 pens and two more good chances ref was very sparing with cards zambrotta had many fouls before booking .

as they were all playing a system of 4-5-1 alien to the normal urge to attack i think they adapted quite well .

if you were given a one off cup tie with home advantage you would take it like a shot and i believe this was fergies thinking in this .

go gung ho for goals lose 3-2 and then barca score at o/t and we would have been in real trouble and at risk of being picked off like in the real madrid game of yore . we can now play our more normal game and we should be able to score more than them

ronaldo missin the free kick was bad for us for the following 2 reasons-
1) we would have had the lead
2) their confidence was pretty low from the games before and if we had hit that goal then their already fragile confidence would have gone..they played really well after that miss......

Yeah, but what if the 2nd possiblity actually comes true? I agree to one of RichardsRed earlier posts. That is, Barca may have upped their tempo even more and United would definately have conceded and perhaps lost the match as well if that spot-kick has went in.

Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda..........
The result was a good result as the Nou Camp is a tough place to play.
The real test is next tuesday at OT. We need to play with passion and pride.
Winner takes all, lets hope its a good night.
