| After being an integral part of United’s double winning
campaign, Edwin Van Der Sar, has been awarded an
extended holiday from Sir Alex Ferguson.
The Dutchman was in fine form in the EURO's making
trademark stops in the games against the World Cup
finalists, France and Italy. Van Der Sar has retired from
the international scene and is now looking on keeping
focus on his club and winning more trophies.
After Schmeichel, United were always questioned over
their goalkeeping position with numerous players trying
it out, Fabien Barthez and Tim Howard looking the most
promising. Van Der Sar arrived from Fulham and has
been in impeccable form of late.
Due to his EURO duties and the age factor, Sir Alex is set
to give him time off from pre-season. Ferguson shows
his loyalty to him by stating that Van Der Sar can make
his own mind when to arrive back to Carrington. "He’ll get a good break now, I’ve told him to have as
much holiday as he wants because at his age he knows
what’s best for him," said Sir Alex. "He’ll be back and
hopefully he has another great season for us." -manutd.com
The shot-stopper will have to be back in the goals for
the Community Shield where last year, he saved three
penalty's in a row from Chelsea and ended on the same
penalty saving note last season. |
