Absolutely the right decision.

I did the 'long distance' thing with a nurse who worked at Blackpool Hospital for over 2 years. Spent a small fortune speaking to her on the phone. Her crazy shifts meant she rarely had a weekend free and when she did I had to try and fit our plans around watching United. She didn't like football at all but tried her best to understand my passion for it.

We just didn't have enough opportunities to see each other to keep the relationship going so we ended it but we're still friends. Now I have more time and money to go watch United...my one true love

Cheer up, mate.

1. I have seen couples who break up after 7 and 10 years. The true sadness lies not so much in the length of time spent but the length of time wasted.

2. After you have recovered, you will quickly realise the forest is really too big out there. After I broke up with one of my ex, I was depressed for a long while and told my best friend that I don't think I will ever fall in love again. Guess what my best friend did? Consoled me as expected? Not at all! He just laughed loudly and rudely!! Yeah, but true enough, when I recovered, I only laughed at myself.

That is kind of a bummer if you are looking for someone to settle down with i suppose. I enjoyed the time we spent together largely so i wouldn't consider it wasted. Hopefully we'll remain close friends, if that is possible!

Don't get me wrong, though. Just looking at the other side of a long relationship that has gone bad. Everything will be alright, mate.
