    Ramsey is United Class

Boss Dave Jones has admitted Cardiff could sell Aaron Ramsey to Manchester United after the FA Cup final.

    Source : ESS

The Premiership champions are favourites to land the 17-year-old midfielder on a deal that could ultimately net the Bluebirds over £10million. Sir Alex Ferguson has refused to comment on speculation about the teenager, but his friend Harry Redknapp - manager of Cardiff's Cup final opponents Portsmouth - has hinted that he will be on the move. Now Bluebirds boss Jones has dropped an even stronger indication that Ramsey could be lining up alongside world-class players like Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo next term.

Jones said: "We don't have to sell him but if Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal or Liverpool come calling and the price is right it's difficult to say to the kid, 'you are not going to play with Rooney and Ronaldo'."
Ramsey is trying to ignore the speculation that has blown up in the week leading up to Saturday's Wembley showpiece, but admits his hero is Ryan Giggs.

"The media stories don't affect me whatsoever," he told The Western Mail.
"Obviously, I hear about it, I just don't take any notice.

"Everyone wants to play in the Premiership. It's probably the best league in the world. But I'm a Cardiff player and I just concentrate on doing my best for the club. I'm just focused on getting into the starting XI this weekend and trying to win the FA Cup."Ryan [Giggs] has won the FA Cup quite a few times and I've got a chance of some FA Cup history of my own at the age of 17."I'd like to model myself on Ryan."

Jones: Ramsey set for the top

    The Press Association

Cardiff manager Dave Jones insists teenage prodigy Aaron Ramsey would not look out of place alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is already known to have enquired about the 17-year-old midfielder and Liverpool and Chelsea are among a host of other Barclays Premier League clubs reported to be interested.

"His next stage of development is to go with better players. He has his off days like any player but he's not fazed," said Jones. "He's not had a full season, which is helpful. If he had been in right from the start he might not be at the level he is now."

Jones insists Saturday's FA Cup final against Portsmouth will not necessarily be the youngster's final bow for the Coca-Cola Championship club despite a number of clubs reportedly preparing multi-million pound offers.

However, he admits it could prove "difficult" if one of the big four come in with an offer.

"We don't have to sell him now," Jones said.

"But if Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal or Liverpool come calling and the price is right it's difficult to say to the kid you are not going to play with (Wayne) Rooney and (Cristiano) Ronaldo.

"We have been very honest since we've been at the club and if it is the right deal for the club and the player then we will do it."

I have no doubt that if UNITED sign him and coach him well he will become as good if not better than the Gerrard of today and you can quote me on that in 10 years time!

In my opinion the best option right now is to sign him and loan him back to Cardiff for a season or two, as it will do him good to play every week, when you watch the final just remember that this kid is just 17

I would love it, love it................. if we sign this boy

Ramsey could be next FA Cup final star

By ROBERT MILLWARD, AP Soccer Writer

LONDON (AP)—From Stanley Matthews to Steven Gerrard, the FA Cup final has had a long list of star performers.

The next one could be Aaron Ramsey.

The 17-year-old Welshman, who was taking his school exams a year ago, has the big Wembley stage to make his name Saturday when Cardiff City from the second tier of English soccer takes on Premier League side Portsmouth in the 127th final.

In a season of amazing cup upsets, Cardiff could top them all by becoming the first lower-league side since West Ham in 1980 to topple a topflight club— and Ramsey could make a major impact.

Ramsey, an attacking midfielder who scored on his first FA Cup start against non-league Chasetown in the third round, said he was more scared about taking his school exams last year than the thought of playing in the cup final at Wembley.

“It is a really exciting time for us,” said the teenager, who is trying to become the youngest FA Cup winner. “I was in the middle of GCSEs (exams) last year. It was more stressful than this. I did all right in the end. I passed 10 out of 11, and only failed biology.

“This is more fun. It is a lot more enjoyable.”

Although he never has played in the top flight of English soccer, Cardiff manager Dave Jones says that is certain to happen, even if it is not with the Bluebirds.

“We don’t have to sell him now,” Jones said during the buildup to Cardiff’s biggest game since it won the title back in 1927.

“But if Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal or Liverpool come calling and the price is right it’s difficult to say to the kid you are not going to play with Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo.”

Jones said Ramsey, a Wales under-21 international player who was called up for the senior squad on Thursday, would not be out place alongside the stars of the big Premier League clubs.

“His next stage of development is to go with better players,” Jones said. “He has his off days like any player, but he’s not fazed. He’s not had a full season, which is helpful. If he had been in right from the start he might not be at the level he is now.”

Stephen McPhail, one of Cardiff’s experienced players, also predicted that Ramsey will make a big impact in the top flight.

“He is a down-to-earth type of lad who will work hard at his game, but he is a bit special and I am sure he is going to be a superstar,” McPhail said. “When you are training with someone every day and he makes the right decisions nearly all the time, I think that shows a good player. He is very shy and quiet but is very confident with the ball. When he is on that pitch he is a different character.”

Cardiff also has former Leeds and Chelsea striker Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink in its lineup but Robbie Fowler, who played in two FA Cup finals with Liverpool, is likely to miss out. Fowler has been out of action since December with a hip injury and, although he is back in training, might not be fit enough to face Portsmouth.

The absence of any of the top four clubs—Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool—for the first time since 1991 has taken some of the gloss away from the final and could well affect TV ratings even though the final is live on both BBC and BSkyB.

Cardiff hasn’t won the cup for 81 years and hasn’t been in the top flight since 1962. Portsmouth’s only FA Cup triumph was in 1939 and the last of its two league titles was in 1950.

Fergie Ups Bid For Kid To £10m

    Mirror

Manchester United have upped their offer for Cardiff City teenager Aaron Ramsey to £10million to head off a late move by Liverpool.

Sir Alex Ferguson is bidding £5m up front for the midfielder (below), but insiders have revealed extra performance based payments could double that figure.

Fergie is also prepared to loan the 17-year-old back to Cardiff for a season to make Bluebirds boss Dave Jones even happier as he plans a promotion campaign.

The offer is aimed at blocking an attempt by Rafa Benitez to snap up Ramsey - who will be in the squad for Wembley today - after learning he used to support the club.

Ferguson's initial bid - and the offer to leave him at City for a season - had already edged out Arsenal. Chelsea have backed off, as have Spurs and Villa.

i have also seen ramsey a few times down at cardiff and utd should sign him, but don't expect to see a wondershow from the lad in todays cup final.
he is one for the future and certainly has more potential than any of utds present youngsters ,but ramsey has got another 2-3 years of learning to do yet before he tears up the premiership,if utd do sign him it would be in our best interest to leave him at cardiff to play another season to progress at a faster rate by playing first team football.

he looked at good young player today, im not sure if he'd be getting many games if we signed him though ? especially if he's looking to play the attacking midfieders role, who knows maybe fergie will bring him in when scholes hangs up his boots ?

Ramsey Keeping Feet On The Ground

Cardiff City's teenage sensation Aaron Ramsey insists that he is not about to let all the transfer speculation surrounding him get to his head.

In fact, the 17-year-old midfield gem was far more eager to talk about the prospect of debuting for Wales than the rumours linking him to Manchester United, Arsenal and most recently Aston Villa.

"It has been a fabulous season for me," Ramsey beamed.

"Breaking into the first team at Cardiff is a big enough step for me, but playing at Wembley twice and being called up by your country is something that dreams are made of."

"If I do make my Wales debut next week, I know the people close to me will be proud.

"But I'm a Cardiff player and I just concentrate on doing my best for the club. People close to me help me keep my feet on the ground.

"I'm level-headed, so I don't let these sort of things affect me."

Manchester United had been regarded as the favourites to capture Ramsey, who is rated at £10million by Cardiff. But the player and his family are not convinced that going to Old Trafford would be the best move for him, which could strengthen Arsenal's hand but perhaps Villa even more so.
