So wily Fergie does see the same as most of the members of ManUtdTalk forum ie a striker and a right back.

*sigh*. You really don't have a clue do you. striker, right back.. alvez fabiano.. since when has ferguson purchased a top class established player? He's always brought players who can give a long time service to the club, help the team, improve as a player and win things with for a collective cause. Alvez does not fit the character crierion that sir alex wants, fabino culd get away with it as we've been closely linked with him before (about 4/5yrs ago).

I can sense Sir Alex strengthening the midfield options this summer. A winger is a necessity to share with Giggs and Nani the left midfield/wing role. Veloso would be top quality and give us another option as a defensive midfielder and as a centreback. I can see Ferguson likes adaptable and versatile players, and he also likes 2 players competing for every spot.. So my argument is Veloso will come on these given grounds that he's an excellent passer, intelligent movement creative mindset can kick one heck of a long ball and short pass.

If Pique goes then Veloso coming is a definate, if Pique stays then maybe - depends on Johnny Evans...

Midfield again? Thought we all had a midfield discussion already and that we have currently 10 midfielders in the first squad.

Edit: On second thought though, ever since the departure of our arguably greatest captain of all time, Keano, we never found another midfielder who is all command and authority, and running the show in the middle of the park. That is a sad truth.

i may be in the minority but i have no problem with us buying fabiano. I would prefer to buy him over huntelaar...Why? Well fabiano is playing in spain which if of the highest technical quality you see in club football and he is a lethal finisher. Hunterlaar would be a good signing aswell probably but less risk is involved with fabiano and at 27 he is at his peak. United have many young players and someone like fabiano would probably be a good signing. Played in spain, top finisher and i think foriegn players find it easier to settle at clubs like united now because we play good football and have top players at the club now. It doesnt matter where you play after that.

Alves is a great right back but is he as solid as wes at the back? Doubt it but i think if he ends up being evra on the right, people wouldnt complain.lol...

I dunno if neither signing is really 110% required but since we know arsenal/chelsea and liverpool will all strenghten alot this summer, these two players can only make our squad stronger so i have no problem if we buy these two players...Infact i'd have a smile on my face!

pz!

We do need another striker, preferably someone tall, good header, some one who has traits that Rooney/Tevez don't.
Cant rely on Saha, surely his time has been and gone. So a good replacement is top priority. Don't know enough about Fabiano, but have been very impressed with Benzema.
